I have been getting out more with my trailer and boat and feel that my tires 35s are making it hard for me. I am concerned about hurting my truck while towing.

If I'm in 5th I'm About 1600Rpms@60
4th I'm about 2300rpms@60

I feel trapped if I go 70 or 75 I still feel low to be in 5th like I'm lugging it
But to fast to be in 4th like 2600+

I might just be crazy but I don't know what I should be doing
Thinking about lowering my truck down but like the looks of my truck now

I am ordering efi live and gages btw

without an EGT gauge, you driving in the dark. put one of those on and as long as your not running high EGTs while pulling it 5th, let it cruise

You're not going to hurt a diesel by lugging it. That is what they do :thumb:

The only reason to change gearing or tires is if the trans keeps hunting between gears and it annoys you. Even that won't hurt it, unless you've got the tune turned up, then you'll eventually kill 5th gear. Of course, with a big tune, you'll eventually kill 5th no matter what.

I have towed a bit with my LLY and have found that the Ideal rpm range for towing is between 1800-2000 rpm. I have found my best economy there and also my coolest egt's.
