If you can find a big 2 jawed puller it works the same. I know our advanced auto parts carries them.
I read a few other post on other sites DO NOT USE C-CLAMPS you could be seriously injured or killed. I used to work in a bone yard in the late 70's and speak from experience, they make a violent and nasty noise when released improperly.
The torsion bars I released were on a front wheel drive Buick or a Cadillac, these bars are almost 7ft long and support the motor, transmission front wheel drive assembly with a big block some years. If you ever come across these bars grab them they make excellent pry bars. Bend and always come back.
