And I can jump off a 5 story building but i will break my neck every time.
This can be done with valve body engineering and then electrical engineering to activate it. how much will the R&D cost and how many will you sell Braden?

Prove it Mike I bet one of those times you might just break your legs:D

There is only one situation I can think of that locking first would be a good idea:

If you sled pull in 4x4 HIGH range, first gear. This puts you right between 3 and 4 low.

Wait...

I'm a retard. 2wd puller doesn't have a transfer case, so he's already in first. DOH!!!

No point to lockup in first but in sled pulling we lock the tc at the beginning of second... It helps to get the tires broke loose and let the motor rev... The sled will make them get traction again ;)

I would like to be able to lock my converter into first so i can load my motor to get a little more ground speed. On some tracks i can get second and run the crap outta it but i think it would be cool if i could lock it in 1st also

It sounds like to me, if you have a need for locking in 1st, you'd be money and time ahead to swap rear diff. gears and tires that will let you run 2nd gear.

Ya and run 5.13 gears or something stupid and then complain about why you are getting the same fuel economy the new F450's are getting with 4.88. So then you have to spend more money to make your truck a 6 speed. Either way Mike L. is still getting your money. Lockup in first just sounds so much easier. One of those easier said than done deals.

I mean it sounds simple to me. Drill and tap a place that always has positive pressure in the valve body, then drill and tap the spot that has a torque converter lockup line in the valve body then run the 2 steel lines to a 100% duty cycle solenoid. Then you run a couple of wires out of the trans to a switch and presto. Lockup in any gear any time completely by passing the ECM.

I reserve rights to my stupid idea and want millions for it if it can actually work that simple. :D

you could shim the heck out of the TC flow valve, you wont be able to control it with a button, but it will DRAG the converter. I dont know much about it but it was interesting to drive a truck with this accidentally done to it.

Kurt,

Maybe try a built tranny with a better converter before you worry about locking up your stock torque converter, once you get all the power your stock motor is "pounding the ground" with then you can ask everyone how to install a copilot. I bet at that point you will be pretty happy.

Because God said no.:beatdeadhorse: It would cost 50K at least in R/D to do it and what could i sell it for? How many would I sell 10 at 5K and not even break even? Would you buy it ? Didn't think so.:D

Ill pay you 70K to do it as long as you name it after me :D

Thats a good point Josh makes, a built trans and tighter converter will work wonders for you.

Hell I thought guys wire up converter UN lock switches, kurt here wants to lock the converter. What if locking the converter up too early made you lose distance Kurt? That would suck
