Also, I wasn't insinuating you were like them bud, in fact the opposite, there is much work to be done a few quality companies to do it. Keene tree service even came down .

I hear ya on the fly by night TREE GUY's  We had to contend with a whole mess of them a couple years back when we had the ice storms here locally.. Everyone and there brother with a saw is a tree guy in a crisis..;) I personally have been in the Arborist/Tree Removal field full time for the past 14 years and we specialize in large technical tree removal. That is one of many attributes that seperates us from most of the other so called "TREE GUYS" in the area.. To add to your Equipment list above, Our Crane and whole tree chipper makes short work of anything under 21" Diameter, Anything bigger either gets loaded in the knuckle boom AKA Log Truck or set in 28' lengths on the gooseneck with the crane.. Plenty of ways to skin a cat but I can assure you my company is far from a fly by night operation;) Stay safe man

Me and the guys I work for would probably drool over some of your equipment. We hire out Arbor Crane from ct a lot, don't have one of our own. Just a vermeer 1800, 2 chip trucks, an older international 60' bucket, the international rear-mount w/ 20ft deck, and the kubota 4330 with skidder and clamp. We were looking at the radio controlled track chippers the other day online, thinking of how much easier one wouldve been to get into these tight yards.

The 1800 Vermeer is one of the few Vermeers I would own, Great machine when equiped with the winch:thumb: Not sure why they even offered a 18' chipper without one but it seems most of the older 1800's I see are winchless:confused: Anyways it sounds like you guys have all the equipment to get the job done;) You doing any climbing? or do you guys sub out? A good climber combined with a crane and a 18" chipper can hammer out some serious work in a short time, as you already know;) On the radio controlled track chipper topic, There awesome!! But unless your storm chasing, have a huge clearing contract, or just ALOT of house/building lots to clear your better off renting when you need it then buying it outright IMO.. Atleast in the residential sector of things which I am assuming is your guys primary market since your renting cranes? On a seperate topic I will be over to todds tomorrow or thursday afternoon to drop off some parts so if your in the area and free give me a shout and I will buy you that beer I owe ya :D

There were too many flybynight tree guys out there, still are, I was on a roof cutting a pine top and the neighbor almost lost his perfectly good house to a dumbass that didn't cut a freakin wedge. The only useful equipment right now is a logtruck and a tractor/skidsteer with clamp. Lots of heavy lifting to be done. Luckily we have that and not many other small companies do.

One day, you guys will realize a trackhoe with a thumb can do anything. A skidsteer has its place for sure, but they are slow since you have to cut everything within the limits of the machine. I have pulled at least 200 trees off of multi million dollar homes at Buck Island using nothing more than a big excavator with a thumb.

And yeh there will be a lot of the fly by night guys.

Yea we climb, I don't personally I've climbed only 6 trees I think so far, but that's mostly what we do is climb. Actually, until I worked with these guys (K&J) I had never used a bucket,or a chip truck or logtruck. I have done small residential work on the weekends with my father since I was 14. We had a dump trailer with a box, that was about it.

I won't be around till next weekend though man, I'm at the cape "training" .

I grew up in the excavating business, and I told my uncle when the storm hit that he should load up and come downtown to work, but he didn't want to. The first couple days, the cities allowed hard tracks in the streets to open roads, but then they said no more because of the asphalt damage. The streets and neighborhoods hardest hit are pretty tight up here. It's hard to jockey a chip truck a trailer around never mind an excavator. Everyone cares about not causing any more damage too, when they see an excavator, the think "will that tear up the grass?"
