Why Top 53?!?

I didn't go back nor do I know all the history behind this list, but what's the magic of listing the top 53? Why such an odd-ball number?

Why not top 66 - a la 6.6 Duramax? :D
Well, we started with the top 25, but people were getting bumped left and right. 148 posts in, and Tom suggests we make it a Top 50:
See my sig. May as well make it a Top 50.

This idea seemed well received, and jnieberlein (OP) wanted the list to be "special" (well, more special). So 53 it was!
Make it the top 49 or the top 53 this is after all the "Special List" according to some, may as well not conform to an actual even number :D
And thus it was done:
...let's go with a top 53, so not only is it not even, but it is a prime number, and not divisible by anything

Since it has been a long time since the rules were posted, I might as well repost them from the first page:
Easy rules are as follows
Tags,
Insurance,
Current inspection (if required in your state)
You must drive it to the track.

Done :D
The spirit of the list is your truck is a daily driver (or weekend warrior), and that it was driven to the track. Could have driven it there doesn't count :baby:

I'm guessing by the looks of it that it's ok to swap tires at the track?

That to me takes out the daily driver part when you bolt on the slicks/radials you don't DD on them nor do you drive on them to the track.

All be it not the most financially sound idea but my wife would drive my truck 80 miles a day to and from school on my drag radials. I sold a set to someone that had every bit of 1k miles on them and they were still in great shape. I see no reason they shouldn't count for dd. Slicks on the other hand aren't dd tires.

I completely agree, if they'd release a taller drag radial it'd be the only tire I'd drive on the street.

Did Brett drive the C10 to the track when he ran his fastest time? I know its streetable but I assumed he hauled it to the races. :woott:

Ummm, hell no he didn't drive it from Chicago to Texas to race it in the World Finals on a 3sp trany. You'd have to be crazy to try that honestly! And as far as changing the tires at the track versus the tires you run on the street, all the 2wd trucks wouldn't be on there and quite a few of the 4x4 also run slicks at the track. If it is registered and plated and driven on the street then it should be legit.

PS-mine needs to be on there since I ran a 10.96 at TS 2 years ago and drive the truck everyday! All the info for it is on the fastest list where I am near the very bottom of the list, lol!

The spirit of the thing was that the truck is (at the time it ran, at least) street legal, and is actually driven on the street from time to time.

We discussed the C10 a while back, and decided it would be allowed. Or maybe it snuck through? That was a while back...

Slicks are definitely allowed, weather you drive with them on, or swap them at the track.

Mark, I'll get you added to the list later today.

What makes these trucks different than the quickest truck list then.

Mostly, that they are licensed, insured, and driven. That's why it is the Run What Ya Brung street legal list. These are trucks you might end up next to on the street.

Sure, we may not drive around with slicks. But we also don't leave our tailgates off, no spare tire, etc.

That is why we have 2 trucks under 10 seconds, and the quick list has 27 under 10 seconds. Most of those aren't driven or can't be driven on the street. These are.

Finally, this is in fact a "special" list. If you want solid rules, this is not the list for you :spit: It is more of a "spirit of" kind of thing. If someone says their truck is a daily driver, and when they throw slicks on at the track they run x, we let them on the list. :thumb:

If jnieberlein wants to jump in and finally lay down solid, hard rules, we can re-evaluate the list. But this is what it has evolved into over the last 3 years.

What I still need:
TROJAN366: Your previous weight was 6860, and you listed ~7000 this time. I left the weight as it was, but if you think it has gone up in weight, I can put ~7000 on the list.
