You guys do know that pic was a joke, right?

I knew someday someone would build a purpose-built race truck and make attempts to get into this list, and it happened (three times!). IMO, I dont think the three top trucks on the list are what you'd consider "Daily Drivers", no matter what they say, but it is what it is now. IIRC, the original Top Truck was not exactly a regularly driven truck when it made its 12.18 pass all those years ago. We tend to forget that. Frankly, I always though this was about pushing a stock motor, DD truck to its limits, with all the worry and risk that entails. It takes a lot of thought and work to go fast, no matter if the truck is stock or heavily modded. I dont like the battery in the rear, or fuel cells, or the completely gutted interiors, or the fact that there are some shops that are actually "sponsoring" some of these guys but what are we going to do about it?

We could start all over with new rules, but then the arguments start all again. Id rather just shut the whole list down, as its been perverted from what it was originally intended for.

What keeps it from being a daily driver? It has a battery under the hood. It has ac. It has cruise control. All gauges work. It gets 22 mpg driving to and from the track. I don't see what is making this a full blown race truck?

The fact that they dont see city streets on a true daily basis. You know, driven to work, groceries (ha), towing a trailer, hauling a load, etc. Sure, they could be used in that fashion, but they arent -- at least not any more.

There are a lot of built-motor trucks out there that are still used as trucks on a daily basis.

My brother daily drives his truck and as soon as he gets his 60ft down it will be nearly 12 flats... Also just found a nasty boost leak in her that's been there for a good while and the injectors are on their last leg... His lift pump is also a POS and a airdog is going on shortly... It should do its thing here on the list even more shortly as well :)

Yes, I knew it was a joke, and I'm sorry if you thought I was attacking you. I thought the picture was funny, and I was just saying I didn't care if he actually was sitting on a milk crate. I don't know what Charles daily drives, but I don't see any of the things he has done that would keep him from daily driving. I thought the purpose of the list was to see how far a stock engine could be pushed in a factory application.

Yeah Josh, I knew you werent. I was just clarifying. When I saw the truck weighed 5600lbs, that was the first thing I thought of, plus I added in the "missing" front clip...kinda like what that guy did to his Dodge in that big-money race down in Florida last year. That was funny.

No, none of the mods take away from the fact that a truck could be DD, but they arent being DD...thats the point I was trying to make. Its a different dynamic.

I get what Toms saying. When this list started 98% of the guys on it used their trucks daily and was there means of transportation. I'm glad to see a stock motor truck hit 11's.
Striping these trucks down like or even more than some race trucks is up to the owner but not what I consider as a daily driver. The list should have had rules like true street. That would keep things more in line on how you run the truck on the street. BUT it isn't so congrats on being creative and hitting the 11's!

Just to clarify here. He does drive that truck to work most of the time. He works construction and drives it nearly 150 miles one way to work. It has pulled trailers and even been used around the house to drag trees and such.
I'm not trying to make anyone upset here, but he has earned the respect for this.
If you want to beat him, all I can say is ( Go For It ). Everything on that truck was hand crafted and built in his shop. There are no aftermarket parts on the engine side. It does have a built trans. The body and framing is still street legal and has been inspected.
Kory's tune is very instrumental along with Brad's tranny. The rest is an absolute labor of love on Charles' part. He did what he set out to do and that was to make it on this list.
Now we move on.
Think outside the box. He did and look what it did.

Exactly who gives a flyin **** how he drives it or of he drives it on street. He went 11s. Pretty crazy impressive. No one can just say Congrats man, u did it and move on. Everybody has to be so upset or jealous for some reason.

So....how 'bout those Tigers?

Not jealous in the least.

I am curious if someone else wants to take over updating this list here and at the Place, though. I've about had my fill of it. Just as soon shut it all down than continue it.

I just want to bring it to the dyno and make more power with it!!!!! That's all I can think about... Is it sad I enjoy playing with this truck more than my 10 second truck? Lol
