Too much boost?

I am running my PPE tuner on level 4(225HP) with boost controller in the normal position turned all the way down. At WOT my PPE boost gauge spikes to 37 to 38 PSI sometimes...its not there for long, but the needle isn't too far from 40. I know that level 4 on my PPE ncreases the boost alot more than level 3, but is this normal? Should I unplug the boost controller all together when running level 4? I know 30-32 PSI is said to be safe and I don't wanna fry the turbo just yet.

On a side note I have had my boost gauge stick from time to time if the truck has been sitting for an extended period of time. It would sometimes stick at 10 PSI and sometimes not go over 20psi. This has not happened in quite ssome time though. Do you think the problem is with the tuning or would you think the gauge is bad?

Have you talked to dan about the issue? 38psi is to high for a stock charger.

Is there a PID I can watch on my PPE tuner that I could translate into boost?

I know on trucks I've tuned, leaving the boost controller in results in boost ~5psi over commanded even when the thing is turned off. I'd consider pulling it quick to see what the truck does without it.

is your gauge a manual or electric? if its manual go to a hardware store and buy a cheap gauge and swap it out,just to verify it's the gauge

Thats the type of info I was looking for...I'll try that in the morning. The funny thing is that I don't beleive it happens when I have level 3 loaded. Do you think it could be because level 4 has more boost built into the tune?

The Guage is PPE DI Pricol...I don't have EFI, but I do have the ability to see real time data with my PPE tuner

Update...Vortecfcar was right. with the boost controller unplugged the boost stays in check at 31-32 psi max. Even though the controller was turned all the way down and off, it was still making too much boost at WOT.Thanks for the help.
