Ok, goal is 12.50's on a stock turbo ZF-6

Current best is 12.829
Best 60' is 1.701
Highest trap is 107.75mph
Consistent 1.7xx to low 1.8 60' times

Current setup:

265/70/16 Proxies S/T's on PYO's
CalTracs
Dropped T-bars
2 rear leafs removed
Torsien Diff
I launch in 2nd gear at 8psi of boost

I am torn between 275/55/16 M&H drag radials or 28x11.5x16 MT E.T. streets both would be on PYO's

Will I lower my 60' times and how much?

Do I need to worry about running out of gear or too high of RPM's?

How much will the 13# of weight savings per corner affect my E.T.?

With the added traction I think my tuning could be written for up to 12psi of boost at the tree, I may also be able to launch in 3rd gear with the smaller tire.

This is a bigger investment and I want to make sure I make the right choice. There is a weight savings going with the E.T. streets but I am uncertain of them being overloaded and being to sticky or not having enough sidewall strength with a 6000# truck going 110mph on them.

I think between weight and traction this will be the best mod for me to reach my goals without getting crazy and having a non-daily drivable vehicle.

Any insight or advise would be helpful.

Thanks,

Darius

what is your RPM at the big end? 107 mph?

Can you afford to lose any tire?

Can you get out of the hole in 3rd with the tire you currently use?

It was good talking with you on the phone.

As I said Ed Wayne went 6.89 @ 99mph on the 28x11.5 MT ETs that I have have now. They have also been on Winston's LB7 on an 1/8 mile track, on mine trapping 108 in the 1/4, on our LBZ running 12.4s, and on the rear of a crew cab LMM trapping 104.

Like MAXLLY said you need to look at logs of what RPM you are already turning going through the traps at 107 and see if you have any left in it. If your RPMs are too high 3.45 gears may be a good idea, both for mileage on the street and for lower RPMs on the track.

After a little research your ratio in 6th is .72:1 compared to an allison with .71:1 in 5th and .61:1 in 6th. So you are really close to the same final ratio as a 5 speed alli. With my 285 BFG I was at 3350 @ 107 - with the 28 x 11.50 MTs I was at 3410. I think you would be fine with the 28s - just don't know that they would do so well puckered onto PYOs.

with 28's you're good to 120 mph. i'd look at Proxes 275/60/16 unless you dont mind swapping tires at the track

If my math is corrrect I will drop 11# per corner and have all the traction the truck will need.

I will have the tuning so I can boost 12psi coming off the line vs. 8psi now.

I guess the rpm will be ok with the 28's and I do have a cordless impact and plan to change wheels at the track.

Im gonna pull the trigger!:thankyou:

I think the weight will gain you some mph on the big end not to sure about much ET though! I run a 275 60 17s proxis everyday all dayon h2's they measure @ 29"ish tall! they are fn heavy and probally slow me down a tad as well! I went with the shorter tires because the 4094 would not lite fast enough with 265s on it. I will probally go bigger this year as street testing with the new set up shows they cant put it to the ground while launching:D! abuddy of mine with a pro street dodge runs MT street ets on it they hook decent but even aired to max in the front they still look like there gonna pop off the 10" rims!
