Hello all I'm about to start swapping out my exhaust manifolds and up pipes. My factory up pipe blew a baffel so I'm going ahead and changing it all out. Dose anyone have a list of bolt sizes and or and special tools that may make the job a bit easier, I know the up pipe bolts are 12pt 12mm but that's it.

Presoak every single bolt with pb blaster the night before, you will thank me.
And use antiseize on the new bolts going back together Incase you ever have to remove them.

I've got a really long snap on 1/2 flex head ratchet I was thinking about trying. What size are the manifold bolts and nuts?

IIRC I did drivers and passenger side turbo uppipe bolts from passenger fender well and drivers manifold uppipe bolts from under the truck with a 12mm 12pt impact swivel. Manifold bolts were 6 point 13 or 14mm but they were no big deal.

Just finished a set on an lml, fit amazing, look good, well worth the $

Remove uppipe and downpipe heat shields before removed the pipes makes it 1000 times easier.

So what's everyone's opinion on getting the bolts looses spraying them with a good penetrating oil (wd40) and letting them soak overnight or running the truck up to operating temp and trying to remove them then

FYI: WD40 is not a "penetrating oil" in the sense that needed here. PBBlaster or something similar is what you need to use.

A little tip for the manifolds is to weld the nut to the long studs. That way one you loosen it off it will already be out of the head and make manifold removal easier then having to slide it 2-3 inches away from the head

Every time I have done up-pipe bolts I have resorted to using a porta-power jack from the floor to the end of the breaker bar. It's not pretty, but I keeps me from being so out of position when trying to break the bolts from the up-pipe to the turbo loose.
