Seems I am stuck at 13.0? ET! Rather than ditch the lift and go to smaller tires plus the re-gear that I would also have to do I have decided to drop weight else where.

1. Cutting the frame off from the cab back for a tube frame
2. 4 link the rear, parallel on the bottom, triangle on the top with airbags
3. Moving the axle forward 12"s and building a new aluminum flat bed
4. Fuel cell in the center of the frame rails to replace the factory tank
5. Ditching one battery and relocating the other to the passenger side frame rail
6. New aluminum front bumper to replace my heavy steel bumper

There are a few more mods being done for performance but these are just to cut down on the weight. Starting this project next weekend after I pick up the new beater to drive around. Hope to be done in a few months and then back to the track for a mid 12 run.

My main motivation is to smoke my dad's truck that runs 12.6's. And by smoke I mean kill! Wish me luck!

with all do respect i wouldn't go through all that trouble... if going quick is what you want lose the lift, put the 3.73's back in and go to a street tire or drag radial for traction

I understand what your saying but ditching the lift is not an option. I want to do it lifted on 35s. I could smoke him now if I went back to stock but thats not the route I want to go. I have a few other serious power mods that are going to get done before I hit the track again. Should make for an interesting race!

welll the fuel cell would make you run with runs like Trent if you ever go to an event and i am not sure if you can DD with one. the frame work seems like to much work for such little gains. i am with Nick go back to stock if you want fast. cant have your cake and eat it too...

I say do something new and make that sucker fast with the lift! Heck why not make a full tube chassis with a fiberglass body?

Ben, thats alot of work your puttin into your truck and you might drop .2-.3 off your ET but i highly doubt your gunna pass the 12.6 your dads runs with out some kind of power increase. What advantage do you see with back halfing your truck and moving the axle forward on a lifted truck? have you looked into anti-squat at that height?

You are not doing something right I ran 12.7 all day long with a fixed 4094 with traction bars 12.6 would have been easy.

Also who cares if it runs those times on 35's if you have to back half the truck

Back halfing the truck is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I dont mind doing all the work cause I think it will look killer when its done!

As far as power goes I'm going to compound the 4094 with an S471 but it will not be anything like the kits currently on the market. I am going to mod the factory CP3 and re-do the entire fuel delivery system plus a race valve, see if that will fix the 0087 code I keep throwing.

Also doing away with the y-bridge and runner style intake manifold for a better flowing design. Lots of room without the turbo up there! I will be posting all the pics and God willing be done by the end of the summer.

How much are you weighing in at? I'd look into your tune as well... 13.0 @ 103 is about right if your around the 7400-7500 lbs range with your gears you should still be able to go faster than 103. How do your logs look? Are you running a big fuel shot?

Building a new race bumper out of 1/16" aluminum to replace my steel bumper. Copied the original design for the most part but left out a few bends and angles. As of right now the new bumper weighs about 10 lbs vs. the old @ 120-140 lbs.

Finishing the bends up and starting to TIG it together right now. Will have finished pics in about an hour.

IMO, drag racing is all about power-to-weight. Dont take this the wrong way, but seems to me you're doing everything backwards.

Do you do anything at all for weight reduction now? If so, what?

Do you have the 4.56s installed?

Actually I fill the bed with bags of sand and the cab with fat chicks. Lol!

Everything I stated in my first post is getting done to the truck.

How do you figure this is backwards?

You did an awesome job on the bumper, and 7lbs = 1 h.p. is an old rule of thumb those 35s are very heavy and the lift is killing you imo.either be happy with what you can do with the 35s and the lift otherwise when you get serious and want to run the best possible times the truck can you know what needs to be done good luck:)

Im trying to run the best possible times with the lift and 35s. Ditching the lift is not an option, so I'm cutting weight everywhere else.

4 link parts and airbags should be here mid next week. Pulling the bed and cutting the frame just before the spare tire holder once I get the 4 link mocked up. That should really drop the wieght.
