I've read good things about the everlast machines. They are a chinese built unit, but they are built to spec for a US based company that warranties them themselves. They have had a few units fail, but I read that they replaced them all. There is a welding forum out there that they are a vendor on, and they give some deals on them over there. Can't remember the name of the forum anymore,

I recently got a Miller multimatic. I love it. Will weld up to 3/8. Does stick, mig or tig. Only down fall is it don't rig aluminum. Can run a spool gun on it though. Its a awsome garage welder for the Money.

Which model did you get? 220v? I'm looking to buy one for my garage too. Spool gun is good enough for me for aluminum.

Does anyone have experience with snap on tig welders? Being in a tech school I get a 20 or 30% discount and 50% on hand tools

I don't know about their tig machines but I have a 170 muscle mig it's a great machine but if I had it to do all over I would have a Lincoln or a Miller. My tig is a great working machine (Airco 250 Heliwelder V) old and very little repair support left. They both do a good job but would not recommend either. IMO buy a Lincoln or a Miller and keep the tig and mig separate, especially if you want to tig aluminum.

I use my Everlast 210ext at least few times a week. It works great and for what it's capable of the price is right. I love it but if welded all day everyday or welded more aluminium I would upgrade.

I have a synchro wave 250 at the house and a miller dynasty 200 ex at work. Both are fairly expensive for someone just welding here or there. I talked a friend into buying an everlast 250 ex. It's an inverter welder and is awesome for doing aluminum. As is the miller dynasty. The dynasty is 5k with the cooler. The everlast is half of that and welds great. I taught my friend how to weld with it and he is doing chrome moly and aluminum intercooler piping on their X275 radial tire car. They offer a great warranty too!

They can run off 110 or 220. All you have to do is change plugs. Witch they are quick connect and it has a holder for the plug your not using. So far 110 has been plenty for me. Also the auto set has been perfect.

What's your budget? Miller synchrowave are very nice liquid cooled tig welders. Some if he older versions can be found for a reasonable price. I've used them a lot at work and they are great machines for welding aluminum, stainless, or mild steel. You can even stick weld with them.

I have a Miller Syncrowave 200, found it cheap on ebay a few years ago and love it. I sometimes wish I had a watercooled torch but I've gotten by so far without one.

I run a water cooled torch but don't have a cooler just hooked a hose fitting to the inlet solenoid and plastic tubing to the torch outlet. I run the plastic tube outside on the ground. If you live wear it freezes just be sure to blow the water out when you are done. BTW my Airco is the predecessor to the Miller sqarewave. The only reason I would recommend buying one is the is no parts or service left for them.

I picked up a Miller Syncrowave 250 with a rolling cart, torch, cables, foot control, and water cooler last summer for a really reasonable price, and I've been very happy with it.
