He posted a few post above that he is the one who made one of the tags, I think that is why he is involved...he said he did one.

Now Im really confused. Why would he make a thread tag that is dumping on himself????

I am not a genius or anyone special...I dont want to be looked at as "someone special who knows everything". If im being put up a pedestal by people, than my humility is going to take over and im going to be tempted to pack it in as far as being out in the tech/truck/electronics world. There are hundreds/thousands of people in the GM world who have forgotten more about these trucks than Ill ever know. Maybe its just that Im just one of the only ones who talks about it openly.... If I knew everything (or things that other people in the world dont know) I would have all the worlds problems solved. :)

Everything I know I garnered from someone elses' writings who is much smarter than me. Everything I know is documented public knowledge (whether its on the internet, a service manual, or a book), and anyone else who [has the desire to] reads like I do will know everything that I know. Everything I have done/accomplished in my life could have just as easily been done by anyone else who puts their mind to it.

Ben, you have come up with some pretty damned clever uses for the info you have gleaned from the smart ones.

I understand most of your gadgets pretty damn well and I'm usually pretty impressed by what you come with for ideas and uses.

Having humility about what you do is no bad thing in my book either.

If you didn't do it it was your sidekick Shulte

1. It's schulte. It's in my username. How could you misspell it?

2. No, it wasn't me either. But you can blame me if you want.

3. All I did was provide you with correct information. I could have called you out on the price, but I didn't. So piss off.

I always wear leather gloves when typing, or protective eyewear when reading the internet.

Tags teach us to not take ourselves too damn seriously.

Ok i must of took you the wrong way then. Im just trying to sell something for a friend that i admit i have no F**** clue what it does. I got slammed and don't really feel it was all necessary but that not the point. Pm's with information would of worked so i could have edited my post with correct information. Im not here to misguide people and figured if someone was intending on buying a MDI they would know what the hell it was capable of. Mackin acts like you saved his life because of your responses well that doesn't quite make sense because i don't know one person that would just blow that much money on something without doing a little research beforehand. I should have done some homework before listed that my bad.

Come on now really? He didn't save my life what he did although is explain what the device does and that I don't have a need for it. If you would have read my response I said I WOULD HAVE DONE some research before I purchased instead Ben did it for me so therefore he saved me the time, not my life as you put it!

In addition further down I said that I believe your intentions were nothing but honorable and that I don't believe you were trying to rip anyone off!

Now your going to be slimy and over exaggerate what I said? Real nice go figure!

I should have read this thread better.

This apparently has to do with poor social skills in the Garage Sale section, not just tags.

If someone repeatably hassles sellers in Garage Sale, we can block them from posting in there. While rare, this has occurred. We don't want to be the Internet Police, we expect members to follow the Golden Rule in there.

The only exception is when somebody has scammed somebody on a Garage Sale item in the past. This is a valid criticism, and when verified, will cause the lister to lose their permissions.

If somebody can point me to the offending thread, I'd be much obliged.

What a FlusterCluck ... :(

There is some good info in that thread, so it's going to be REALLY hard to remove the insults without affecting the tech.

At this point, no more insults in that thread, or you will lose your Garage Sale permissions.

I have a $4200+ Tech II. It is a primitive, quirky POS, with poor drivers. It's is 1990 technology. It doesn't even support LBZ's without add-ons, and the software interface would get a "C" as a first year computer science project.

At the time, it was the only game in town.

If the MDI will do all the OBDII+ vehcles, that in and of itself makes it a better tool.

I don't think the original poster was trying to scam anyone. The fact that he does not know everything about the device is moot. Nobody knows everything about anything, even experts.

Im sorry for any Havoc i have created Pat. I was just trying to sell something for a friend. I have sold LOTS of items in the past few days on here if you look at my pm's or for sale threads i sold a ton of stuff and everything is shipped and had no problems with anything i sold. Not one problem but for some reason with this MDI it was a problem from the beggining. I admitted i was in the wrong and should have done some research so im going to leave it at that.

You wont have to worry about any more problems in that thread its locked. Since your have Admin permissions it is open to you but not the general public.

Anyway things I believe got taken the wrong way in that thread.

OMG can I say one thing as a new person who has not posted much? What is this Facebook? I did not know you all could be so much like the women I avoid, I can understand if someone is selling something they should not for a price they should not, but just say that! This is very upsetting to me because I thought this was a different kind of place! I have gotten many useful connections from this forum already, you just have to identify the people you trust, you have to make that choice, and yes if someone can post things that look like they are from someone else we should have that changed!

The "Garage Sale" is supposed to be like a ... well ... Garage Sale. You don't drive by a garage sale, see something you don't like to buy, find a parking spot, then tell the owner and everyone you don't like a particular item.

If you have questions about an item, ask the owner. Private Messages are very good for that, especially haggling over price, or commenting that the item description might be wrong.

Agreed 100%

And Ben can be a little abrasive, but what he said above was humble and spot on.

I think it's time we all  and then move on :D
