This sucks!

Made it about 3 miles from house this morning. when I got to stop sign, truck was shakin'. Went about another 1/8 mile to pull into a parking lot and she's a knockin/poppin'! I pulled dipstick out and smoke's commin' from tube, pcv vent, and oil fill. Noise more audible from drivers side. Well, that was a expensive 12k miles. Depending on what it is, this might be it for the diesel world for me.

Wow that is terrible. YOu just rebuilt your motor not long ago either correct? When are you going to tear into it and diagnose?

All my real tools are at the shop. I'll have to take wife's car tomorrow to get some. I guess I'll do a compression test first and pull valve covers. I hate to have to do this in a dirt driveway. And yes, finally got in running 1 year ago almost exactly.

Buddy of mine had his knocking like crazy and it was a stuck injector only stuck open.You would swear it had a rod knocking he let it go thru a few heat up cool down cycles and then he got pissed and kept reving it and it just unstuck.You can also do a cranck test after you pull the injector fuses and you have taken all the glow plugs out if you crank it feul will only come out if the injector is stuck open. hope this helps and good luck.

If you have excessive blow.by I doubt it's just a injector

mine did the same thing, I thought I was f'ed in the a, 2 injectors later, purrs like a kitten, good luck hopefully it's not too bad for you

Ya but were he has blow by I was just saying that's usually not an injector I just had one stick on me couple days ago no blow buy but maybe with some luck it's something easy

could an injector cause excessive crank case pressure? oil's clean, not loaded with fuel.

Are you loosing any coolant?It could be remotly possible but you would have to have a cooper and an o ring fail at the same time.When i pulled my injectors almost every 1 the oring was sliced And that was from a dealer, but the coopers where holding i think.Have you been able to do a compression test yet?Anything in the oil?

I didn't have way to get tools today. But...... I just went to move it out of the way and- Coolant still has pressure after 26hrs, Knockin a hell of alot louder, and smokes pouring out pcv vent. Should I bother poking? or just pull?

Until you get to take a compression test i wouldnt push it,best to tow it.Please keep us posted.

wouldn't run it until comp. test is done. Just have to do one thing at a time, driving it seems like it would just damage more. Guess it's like the less you run it right now the less might get hurt to a point.
