Is it just me or is it a joke to even ask anyone but mike about a tranny. I have asked 5 or so shops and a few people on here and i have got told any where from 2800 for a stage 1 that wont even hold what i want to do to 5600 for a 600hp build without a warranty unless i get rid of my Idaho rob tunes and run Iowa llys. Crank it up diesel don't even offer a warranty on there trannys unless you buy a full ats. Some one else wants 3800 to build a tranny out of there dads shop .people are asking more for a lesser tranny then mike him self shops with less skill want as much or more then he dose i find it very funny shops even have the guts to ask more then mike ask to build one much less some Joe blow that does trannys on the side asking a 1000 less then a pro like mike sorry to bitch but i have had it with the bull shit and wanted to say hands down mike is the best to deal with and from my view he wont give you lies and bs like almost anyone or any other shop would

They no longer do full Alli builds from what I was told. Mike is an awesome guy and certainly worthy of your business. Since you're already convinced he's the guy, close the thread and get it done with him. No need for the counterproductive conversation.

isnt there someone sorta close by that does transmissions reliably? That all seems crazy. I got a 50,000 mile 3 year warranty with mine. I would rather find a close builder. I'm sure mike is the best for transmissions but there is something to be said for being able to drop my truck off if I have a problem rather than pulling it back out myself. Pretty much all of the quotes I got were around 3600 +/- a few hundred.

What's the definition of a warranty? Almost any company has a "workmanship" or "mistake" warranty??? A well built trans like Mike L does will not fail from "too much hp" but bad tuning can kill one in 2 weeks... So for someone to only give full warranty with their own tuning kind of makes sense.

If u buy a full built Mike L and burn clutch plates out in a few months he's probably gonna tear it apart and say you are paying for parts and cleaning because of no de-fuel or poor tuning... But that's just my guess, maybe he can eat what few of those he would get???


On a side note, I deal with and sell Goerend parts and he isn't building full transmissions in house. He showed me a few things and I am by no means an expert, but last Allison 5 speed Goerend did in and out and build was $5200 someone I know bought without billet shafts, with as close to a "NO QUESTIONS ASKED" warranty as there gets to be...

Mike L is the best bang for the buck you can get IMHO but $1000 is a lot of money to some people who will never make over 500hp or over what a stock bottom end can take.

Who all have you considered to build your transmission? There is a shop husker diesel in Lincoln area that does duramaxs tuning and transmissions.

No I haven't, but I know a few guys in the area have gone there for transmission and tuning.....
