Kelly the 6.4 you get alot more oil out at every oil change then when you added. Go with the cummin along before the blue oval. The Fords are still having lots of issues.

Fords are breaking trannies already, I heard there aren't any aftermarket upgrades for that trans yet either??? My buddy has a reg cab 08 6.4 with a Spartan 311 tune, hauls ass but the trans is on its way to being fried, chatters like a bastard when the converter locks. Same issues different emblem!!!!

Maybe the new 6.7s, 6.4 are 5R110(don't know their different from the ones behind the 6.0) suncoast has kits for them.
My buddy has 08 CC/LB with the spartan 250 & has had some problems with his tranny, has been getting TC codes when he tows lately. He doesn't run it that hard either.

I considered trading in the LMM on a 6.4...Priced one out with the current options I have now...I was shocked at what the price was, not to mention what the dealer would add on top of it...I thought fords were cheaper, and I could move into one and drop my payment a hair. Ill keep the dmax for now.

There are quite a few guys around here that tow a bit with the 6.4's. I haven't heard of any of them getting near 10mpg towing anything over a fishing boat. Cummins gets my vote over the ford.

Buddy of mine has an 08 eclb and it does have adequate power for towing large loads, but, it's all stock w/ under 50k on it and already has a new tranny. Also, he's gettting a very consistant 9mpg towing his stock trailer or hay trailor, and only about 11mpg on the highway, and the dang thang rides like a lumber wagon.

My friend that had one took off the pdf and put on an intake. Spartan 275 tuned and pretty much got the same mpg as my lbz did and ran about the same time, his 8.09 @ 84mph to my 8.07 @ 85 mph. Before the tune and pdf delete his milage wasn't very good but after it got alot better. Only problem he had with his was the tune made his tran bang/shift hard every once in a great while. Tow tune that came with the spartan pulled great. If you just going to drive and pull things with it, then do the basic mods for milage and you should be ok. My other buddy has a new 6.7 and it sags like a gangster pants in the ass when theres a load on it. Worse than any GMC, Dodge, or previous year Fords ever did that he has had. So far only complaint.

My buddy has an ECLB with the H&S, exhaust, and CAI. That thing will flat out haul. It'll smoke his 35 toyos on 20s effortlessly.

Not going queer, but thinking about buying a 6.4 ford. Time to replace my dually and 500+hp on stock trans is sure tempting. Flame suit on.

But youre still going to race the Dmax at the track, right? The Ford would be just for towing?

We (Elite Diesel) have several trans kits right now for the 6.4, we also build and ship trannies.

not after they get bigger turbos, nozzles, etc.

but even with a big tune they dont last forever.

Yeah I figured they were on borrowed time, when all the 6.4 hype started those guys were talking like the Allisons were junk and they Ford trans were bulletproof. Oh well like I said same problems different emblem on the grill. I guess it comes down to what you like more.

Awesome truck BTW!!

i know a guy that has a ford got it new. plus its all stock. he did use a motorcraft parts like fuel filter and oil filter and they didnt warrenty his injectors. plus they voided his warrenty. not good for business. stay far away from ford said my buddy too me. i told him i plan on it not to worry. its does state in the warrenty papers that you must use motorcraft or dealer parts.
