Hi everyone, I am thinking about contacting ATP to make up a tune for my LBZ, just wanted to get some opinions. Ive read a lot about Idaho Rob being the man for tuning, but would appreciate any feedback or suggestions on who to go with.
I am new here, usually I just lurk because a good amount of answers can be found via searching, but I have a more specific question regarding tuning services that I haven't found a clear answer on. I have some aftermarket parts on my truck, like cold air intake, now with ram scoop (XMAS yay!), BMW, intercooler, transgo jr, removed grid heater etc etc; so my truck isn't stock, will any of the tuners out there actually build a tune that takes what I have installed into account when building the tune for me? Maybe even look at some data logs? I certainly want to be as smoke free and trans safe as possible. Thankfully, when I had the transgo jr installed at Mike L's shop he said my transmission was still looking great :woott: and I want to keep it like that till I can afford to build it up, thanks again Mike if you ever see this.
I am by no means a diesel tuner, but I feel like the larger volume intercooler for one takes longer to pressurize, it feels like I've lost some of the pep that I had down low. Can anyone with experience tell me if I can get that bottom end response back without risking damage to the transmission?
TL/DR Any input would be appreciated. Would it be worth it to get a tune? A little extra power would be nice if it's not risking the tranny, but mainly in it for, hopefully, restoring response after upgrading various parts.
Thanks!
