Rut Roh....

Ive heard anecdotal evidence its been done (over at the Place), but never got definitive proof. You should be able to get at it if you remove the balancer.

Just the fan pulley has to come off. Balancer should be good.

I’ve done it but it’s a bitch. I’ve had better luck pulling the studs the water pump bypass tube goes to, moving that tube out of the way some and then slipping a new hose on.

Downside is if either o-ring on the bypass tube is old, dry, or swollen, they either won’t go back in or break. So if you just replace them as well, should be good. It comes out after tweaking it around just right.

I am in the middle of doing 17-19 L5P oil cooler, belt, idlers and I saw that hose is starting to weep but no drips. I have at least 200,000 miles on this water pump so maybe it will start leaking so I can do everything at once.

I’ve done it a bunch. It’s a pain in the ass but totally do able.

Ky is your friend, good hose and needle noses.
