Here goes, guys and gals. Wish me luck. Dont expect "Nell-like" speed, though. This will take a while. Thanks to Durallymax and Larry for their guidance. Vince, I took lots of pics for you.

BTW, what size is the flywheel allenheads? 9/16"? I have to go buy some new tools.

Thanks guys. Yeah, it'll all work out. So, Harbor Freight here I come.

Took about 12 hours over two days for me to pull the motor. Darius stopped by and helped for a couple hours Saturday, and my son came out for a couple hours and helped on Sunday. Only had two mishaps, broken bolt in motor mount (frame) and didnt unbolt the fuel line bracket (whoops -- I hope those lines arent broke). So far, havent found anything out of the ordinary (flywheel and flexplate are fine, no cracks).

Thanks for the advice on the flywheel bolts. I know for a fact my air gun wont be up to that task. They're torqued to around 200ft/lbs, arent they?

Buy a very good 14mm and bar and get a pipe. You will also want a piece of steel about 5' and match it up to the adapter housing holes drill it and get some bolts and nuts and have someone hold the motor with that for you. There well over 200ft/lbs.

X10 good luck Tom, will be interesting to follow your Build,

The way you are doing is prob the way i'd have too, in the garage with no lift.

Gets " fun" crawling all around unbolting things doesnt it?? LOL

Thanks guys. Yeah, I want to see what those rods look like too.

I found the first casualty from drag racing and sled pulling.....drivers side motor mount was WASTED. Broken completely in half. Only the little hook was holding the motor from twisting up. Funny...I never noticed it at the track or driving around.

Thank you Henry. 5' of steel, eh? Oyvey. Would just bracing the drivers side of the motor with wood work, too?
I found a 14mm hex today, so for the hell of it I gave it a try with my bar and a pipe. No joy. You aint kidding...those SOBs are tight...and I thought the balancer bolt was a joy.

You will need a way to hold the motor to keep it from turning to break those loose (or one heck of an impact gun). Henry's suggestion of making the flexplate holder works well and is cheap.

I was also sick but at least I was functional (held up with sudefed) from Wednesday to Saturday. :( I hate driving when I feel like crap, even worse trying to wrench.

Thanks John. What air gun would you guys recommend? Maybe I can borrow one from someone on my route for an evening.
