I spoke too soon. She walked in and finally goes “why in the hell are there wheels in the house”. Damn it... I have till the end of next week or the wheels and me are sleeping in the trailer

Put the steps on yesterday. Muuuuch nicer and cleaner look.

Then decided to try tackling the 3m paint protection on the front end.... that went terribly .

Started off with what I thought was the toughest part, the painted section just under the grill but above the bumper. 1.5-2 hours later, we laid it down really well. Super stoked we could do the rest..... yeah no.

Got to the bumper and holy hell did it not want to cooperate. Spent about an hour just on one corner and I had enough. It was not laying down right, cut wasn’t exactly fitting well either. I said f**k it, I’m phoning a friend and having someone professionally do it. Least I tried it

Put together a top side creeper my wife bought me for Christmas last year. Was always in too big of a rush to put it together I guess. Well I’m definitely not climbing all over the front end of the new truck. Man these are nice!

Did a PCV re-route and ran it like WCFab does theirs. Saw no need to pull the intake horn and bore it larger. It’s damn near the same size as the turbo inlet with just a little lip for the surge port to recirc back to the turbo.

Also measured the front and rear end to see how far off level this thing was. Only 3/4” rear high. Not putting a 1.5” rear drop shackle on for that amount and I can’t build a nice looking one in the time a few bolt turns can do. 2.5 turns later, she’s level and angles are like a stock gmt800 or maybe even better. Still tons of droop left so I’m not even concerned. Think I’m gunna make some sleeves and put some cognito supports on just for longevity

And I head off to discount tomorrow to finally get the damn tires and wheels on

Looks very nice James. I like that you went with machined rims and not all black. When it's time for me to get some rims I will be going with methods and machined finish of some sort.

Looks killer James. Not my style on a high country but still great.

What’s your initial thoughts on the tires?

Well we can’t all have 14” wide forces on 10” wide tires

So far so good. They take after the hankook all terrain tread pattern. Quite on the road this far. Thread doesn’t feel overly soft like BFG’s. Two tires took 8 and 9 oz of weight for a static balance. That’s pretty heavy but the same that my 37” Toyo’s were. We will see over time how they wear.

I like it.:thumb::D

Thanks mike!

Thanks mike! I’m just not a fan of all black. Back in the early 2000’s before everyone had them, I liked it but machined/polished with black accents is my thing. I love the contrast. I really want to do that with the walkers on my tracker but way too much work to strip them and polish them.

They do look better than all black. Needed something to break the color up a bit.

I cant help but think "Pontiac Aztek" when I see a new Chevy Dmax, though.

GM designers and engineers couldnt do better than that "we'll just add 6 inches to the top of the grill and fenders" look??

Yup, sadly they only offer a 121 load index. i need a 126 min.

its mainly the wheel size ive found. 18's have much more in the 126 range. or i shrink to a 295/70R17 but i dont like narrow tires (hence the 13.50's on the old limo). My buddy at discount was giving me a ration of shit over the fact id probably never notice the difference of the 18" wheel but it just aint what i want. Wheels are at powder anyhow so im sticking with them damn it! Worse case, if i dont like the look of the new tires coming in (Gladiator X Comp AT) or they rub due to size difference, ill have to go some place else that will put the coopers on i originally wanted.

What about the Nitto Dura Grappler LT285/75R17 E 128R? I'm running a set on mine right now and I like them a lot. Smooth and quite but enough tread for light off roading.
