The only expensive thing on them would be the fuel filter. Kinda nerve racking unscrewing that plastic housing. I found some on ebay for around 90.00 one time. Strange location as well.

I know. WTF were they thinking putting it UNDER the car? Mechanic at work has one and said he had an issue with it freezing up last winter.
Id love to find a way to bring the filter up into the engine bay.
Considering the long recommended change intervals, though....Im going to have the dealer do that job.

So, I put 235/50/17 Kumhos on the car a week ago, and the touchy steering went away for the most part.
Found out on CompD that the speed limiter is 124mph.
Going to have to find that out for myself. :hehe:

Also found BadNewsRacing's website. Holee shit! Sway bars, coil overs, lowering kits, strut braces.... I could have a field day there.
Have....to....maintain....control....

Im probably going to buy some "lightweight" parts and OZ tuning from Brayden come Christmas, as a present to myself. Also talked to Levi about turbo and downpipe blankets to eliminate a lot of that underhood heat. ;)

Just having fun driving this little torque monster. Definitely going with Fleece this Christmas.

Previous owner hadnt changed the air filter or cabin filter. They were both pretty bad.

Nav unit shows up Monday from Specmo. Here's hoping it works.

After much debate, ended up going with Trifecta to keep the emissions for the time being.
Other than another issue with a sensor code (which I shouldve fixed myself like the first one ), I havent had one issue with the engine, so I decided not to touch it yet.

But ya know, an extra 50hp really does wake these little cars up. ;)
TCM tuning makes the shifting/driving far more enjoyable, too. No more hunting and the weird "neutral at stop" is gone.

BBT just sits there in the driveway, covered in snow.....its sad....

We all have our vices, Mike. Would I like to have a 600hp muscle car like you? Sure. Who wouldnt?

But I dont.

I own what I own and make it the best that I can.

I don't think he was dissing your Cruze, I think he was amused at how much fun you appear to be having with it. Or that's how I took it, at least.

I have found the same thing to be true. I have a 660 WHP diesel truck, a 425 WHP Quadrasteer AutoTrak Suburban, and a 206 WHP Pontiac. Honestly, the fun per $ is hands down the Pontiac. Probably because I get the best mileage in it, despite flogging it the hardest when I drive. And it only cost me $3k so far, IIRC. Good cheap fun is often the best fun.

When did you build a Suburban, Dave?

Im all about learning new things, all the time. Thats why Im on this forum. But I know every nut and bolt and system on my truck like the back of my hand, so its grown stale. Its "just" a truck now.

The Cruze, however, is new territory for me to learn about, and Im doing a lot of it on my own. Im finding that they (Cruze owners) are nowhere near as creative as Dmax people, so there's nobody to bounce ideas off of and get other perspectives. These guys shoot down any and all mods as "the factory didnt do it, so it cant be done" kind of people. Well, that's just not me.

My brother and I built it Christmas 2016, then he sold it to me last year. I just finished getting the AutoTrak transfer case conversion done this week, and it works better than I could have hoped. I don't want to derail your thread, maybe I'll create a new thread with the details after church.

I used to own a 2013 Cruze Eco, and I found the same thing, not a big mod scene (except cosmetics). Ended up selling that car to my brother and buying the 98 Pontiac (also from him, it's musical cars in our family lol).

I drove a cousin's Cruze diesel, and I can see how a tune would really wake it up. They can be fun cars with the right mods, and are cheaper to play with that the trucks.

I was very interested in purchasing one of these but they were a little pricey for me to buy one as just a work car. Plus I couldn’t pass on the deal I got on my tdi. But I look forward to hearing updates on this from Tom. Very curious about the tunning. I bought a module for my jetta and while the power increase was great especially for only setting one ( lowest ) my highway mileage seems to have went down.
