Thinking about it on my wheels...already have the PlastiDip. What are the steps i need to take in order for it to stay on well? Our diesel mechanic (he's a know it all) said the best way to get it to stay is to "scuff" it with steel wool. Anyone else got an opinion or a better way to go about plasti dipping wheels? Mine are Aluminum.

Side note: Plasti Dipping just the wheels and leaving the center caps alone to see how it looks. May tape off some sections to give it that "two-tone" look.

You don't want to scuff anything. The beauty of plasti-dip is the fact that you can easily peel if off if/when you get bored with it. The best way to prep the wheels is to clean them with a degreaser and make sure they are completely dry before you start spraying. Make sure you post pictures when you're done.

X2, don't scuff them up. Just clean them real good beforehand. Masking some areas will not work too well because the plastidip gets real stretchy when it dries so it would'nt leave a nice clean edge when you remove the tape. Also what works real good to mask the tires is get sum cheap playing cards and slide those between the wheel/tire all the way around. Good luck :thumb:

I'm really liking it. I only got to do one side tonight. Going to coat the other side tomorrow.

I think you need to black out the chrome around your grille, do your steps, and tint your headlights too. To me your truck looks incomplete.

At least you headlights and steps.

Just picked up a few cans of the Rustoleum brand of Plastidip. I am gonna start with the wheels and this summer I will probably do the bumpers. Probably will have to the the step sides also! How many wheels can you get out of a can?
