Friend of mine cracked a piston looked like this. He didn't have funds to do a build so he chanced it and put a used stock piston in and steel wooled the cylinder and it never had an issue or blowby.....

Unfortunately he ran the dog piss out of the truck and it sheered the cam pin. Did a full build and when we pulled heads off, the spot was gone.

On a late Monday at the dealership I had just finished running our concrete floor zambonie cleaner through my stalls. Manager yelled at me and said my stalls still looked dirty. Out of pure habit I dumped some brake clean and degreaser down on the floor and ran the floor cleaner over it again, not thinking. The brake fumes got sucked into the floor zamboni and ignited right underneath this van I had up on a lift. Lit the gas tank and all the plastic fuel lines on fire and set off the fire sprinklers over every techs toolbox.

Needless to say I felt like an idiot. Luckily insurance actually paid me to fix the van :thumb:

Bad night, wet pavement, heavy right foot, yukon locker, and one other factor that I am not proud of. Just me in the truck seat belt on. No injuries to me, and yes I am fixing it. 4 days after it happened I picked up my motor from the machine shop. However I bought a complete 06 cab, so making my 01 an LLY just got a whole lot easier:thumb:

with this 04 i just bought, it had a leaking trans line fitting in the radiator when i purchased, a leaking return fuel line, and a lower rad hose swelled up leaking.

I fixed all 3 and did a trans service the night it came home.

Then the situation with the water pump in the 1st post of this thread that cost me a radiator when the ratchet broke

Then my supply line started leaking at the quick connect over the fuel cooler (guess i disturbed it fixing the return line)

Yesterday I started getting c0055 rear vss code. Bushing popped out of the back of tease
Got the GM tool and drove a new one in in truck, and noticed that my snap ring groove is wore out so i need a new back half.

Drove the truck home tonight to pop the tcase out to put a new alum rear cover in i ordered off the inter web. pulled in the driveway noticed i had smoke coming from the pass side, popped hood saw it down bottom, caliper is weeping brake fluid onto the rotors and has the hub/spindle soaked. Brake cleaned it all dry, went to boost it up to see where exactly it was leaking out (at the time thought it might be the coppers on the caliper) and it busted a brake line over the fuel tank.

Looks like saturday i will be putting a back half on the tcase AND doing all new brake lines
