Take a look at these videos and let me know what you think may be a place to start. I know how to diagnose a truck, but I'm obviously not a professional nor do i have the time to spend a day on it until the weekend. But I need this truck to be reliable and this past week has made me second guess it.

This started last week, happened once, until yesterday and today where the occurrence re-appeared. This has only happened under these conditions

Hot weather
Driven over an hour in the morning
Let it sit all day tunil about 4:30 (solid 8 hours outside in the sun)
Go to leave work and the truck starts to bleed from the womb.

What the hell is wrong with this idiot truck of mine? I dont mind busting out the V2 and logging, Figured I would call upon the crew and pick some brains better than mine.

The vane position if you can see in one video is at 85%, something throws me off because they're clearly wide open from the sounds of things, it chugs, huffs whiteish/grayish smoke. Desired and actual rail are even with each other at the time.

Its apparent I need more data than noises, and captain obvious stating the well, you know.... Truck has 200k on it, just replace the injectors with Bosch from LDS. CP3 is original and holds 24.5k rail on 2750us WOT. LBZ reg, but I still feel like this is a problem area. Odd part is, not a minute after this crap happens, the truck runs perfectly fine. fuels, and pulls hard. Until tomorrow when I go through this cycle again. :roflmao:

Thoughts on internally leaking egr cooler? I have not noticed a loss in coolant yet. :spit:

Vanes sticking? You'd probably get a code for the sensor.

Unless Tony turned it off in tuning, I'm not sure thats it. The truck is down now (of course, for a water pump) so I haven't driven it to duplicate the problem in the stock tune.

Its possible it could be turbo related, due to the vane position sensor showing 85% on the CTS and they were clearly wide open.

Check ficm and swap with a know good one. If it has random fueling issues I don't remember on my in laws if it made the turbo act up when the ficm did to

I'll see if I can make that happen. Going to be tough to do, but ill try. I just find it odd that it only does it after the truck had been driven for a while, then parked for 8 hours then re-driven.

The truck will be apart for a turbo, cp3, and waterpump job, when it goes back together we will see if the problem persists.

Still need a good clean unlocked LLY ECM BTW if anyone knows of one. :thumb:

Not sure if you're showing commanded or actual vane position, but I would say it is a Stuck Unison Ring in the turbo. Maybe vane position sensor. Next time it happens, stop and firmly tap the cast portion of the turbo with a hammer. If it starts to work, probably the ring.

It is actual fingers. I thought about the sensor, just find it odd that the truck drives perfect every other time. I am in the midst of switching to non VGT so we will see if it persists

Hellen Keller sent this?
