Well got the funds for a built trans worked out and gave Mike a call for an appointment. Next morning I was sitting at Mikes shop.
I arrived at 7:30, met Mike and waited for his guys to get there at 8. When they got there, withing a few minutes, my truck was on the lift. His guys are real professionalsin , without missing a beat, they chained the rear axle so as not to damage my Firestone bags.
In less than an hour the trans was drained, removed from truck, and ready for disassembly. They hooked up a machine to flush the cooler and lines, and the trans started the disassembly and inspection. Everything was pulled apart and put in the steam cabnet.
During reassembly, they find an issue. Mike walks over to me and asks what idiot work on this thing last.
I told him its not been apart in the 2.5 years I've had it.
I'm still not sure if the look he gave me was mad or just puzzled. He shook his head and told me someone didn't put the pump plate in. Mike was in complete amazement that the trans actually worked. He said without that plate the pump should have eaten the case and leaked pressure so bad it shouldn't have even worked.
Well, an hour later the issues were fixed and the trans was going back in. I don't think it even took 30 min to reinstall the trans, they make it look so simple. They fill the fluids, run it though the gears, and top it off.
Now for the test drive. Mike hooks up the scanner and sets the relearn. Of we go. Mike runs though the motions, like he's done probably a thousand times before. After each 5-50 accel with following coast down to 10mph or so, the trans shifts less harsh. After a 20 min or so drive, it's back to the shop to settle up.
I happily pay the man, talk for a few minutes, and head home with Mikes "break-in instructions" .......... "don't race it for a few days"
The 100 mile drive home in stop and go traffic, has the trans shifting awsome. It's amazing how much faster it shifts. After putting 175 miles on it in the last 2 days, I loaded my dd tune and am letting it relearn to it now.
All I can say is wow. Haven't gone over 1/2 throttle while tuned yet ( to be sure it's broken in ) but it's super quick shifting. Another 50 miles or so and the playing begins.
Mike L thanks again, this is awsome. :thumb:
