Wanted to say thank you to all the UPS/FedEx personnel, I know that is a thankless job. I know I'm not the only one that appreciates your support to our hobbies as we wait like little kids waiting for "Santa" to deliver parts.

Thank you. :thumb: I will get roughly 15-20hrs OT weekly from here until the third week of January. Christmas does not end on Christmas in this business. DOT limits us to 60hr weeks otherwise it'd be even more.
Besides, if we were not busy this time of year, Id be scared about my pension. UPS predicts a 14% increase in volume this year....which I think is low. We're already seeing very heavy volume now.

Its really not a thankless job. Most people are very appreciative when they get a package. I do my level best to help parents hide obvious gifts (pkgs with pictures on them), too.

I have fun simply b/c I'm one of Santa's Elves this time of year and its really the only time that I'm challenged on my route. I come off "autopilot" in December. :roflmao:

I have had a few issues with FedEx, so I prefer to ship ups when at all possible. But I do appreciate the job they all do. Except when I miss you by 5 minutes and I had to sign for a package.. now I have to wait till Monday. But that's how it goes.

Thanks a lot to all delivery drivers of all products your service is appreciated.

Thanks for posting that Chris. My two older girls run a shipping store, and it is hammer down until after Christmas. Those drivers run hard and deserve all the thanks they get and more. Thanks for remembering them, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Just to give you guys a peek into Brown.....

Our center has been heavy for over two weeks now.
Today was the official "1st day" of peak, and in the area that my loop brother and I deliver, we had 5 trucks in it today, all of us with 10 hours on road. Had 70 drivers on today, too. Thats insane for a Monday, even at peak.

Only had 140 stops today, but 285 packages. You could've peeled the sides of my truck down and it still would've looked the same, too
Its gonna be an interesting peak season this year.

My dad (retired for a year or so now) decided to get a job running for the drivers, curious to see how he likes the chaos of Holiday season :woott:

My day-1/2 today consisted of 181 stops and 406 packages delivered. People are getting 5 or 6 packages at a time.
Most stops Ive ever done on this area was 192, but the package count was wayyyyy above my personal best on this route.
Punched out at 9:20pm. Tomorrow is supposed to be even heavier. Good God.....

My car is only 570cu/ft, so out of neccesity I took the first half of my day out and got started while another worker brought out my second half at 1pm (perfect timing, BTW). When I got done at 7:20, I went and helped another driver (doing the northern half of my regular area) with 17 stops, as delivering in the dark out here isnt a big deal for me.

I wonder if they are just dropping a semi trailer in big neighborhoods and having an army of golf carts come and unload it? I haven't seen any golf carts in our area yet.

Keep giving us updates Tom I find it very interesting how your workload changes for the holidays. And lastly thanks to all of you that help get our gifts to where they're going this holiday season.

I suspect UPS delivers late to my dirt road because driver had truck stuck in large mud puddle.

One day driving my dually to the Sisters, just slowly driving down a dirt road coming up to an intersection with stop sign, I see the big brown turn onto the road I was on and :spit: through a huge puddle on the opposite side of road. :acceler:

My father n law has been pulling 13-14 hour days and they are making them do 2 runs a day right now. They go out and deliver and empty their truck then Coke back and load up with parcels and go back out again. They are saying by weeks wnd it could be even worse off.

There are no big neighborhoods here. All I know is they are not being very considerate of how they are affecting their business customers. I paid next day shipping on a part I needed to finish a truck, and they show up a 5pm in a golf cart. I wasn't too happy. They're usually here around 1-2 at the latest. This just a couple of weeks after they decided we were closed on a holiday (Veteran's Day) when we were there waiting on another part to finish another truck. If you can't tell, I'm not a big fan of UPS right now.

I thought next day air with UPS had to be there by 10A.M? Am I wrong on that?

depends on how it was setup. there are 3 options i have on our UPS account. next day air morning (your 10 am guarantee), next day air normal (1 or 2pm guarantee), and next day air saver (which i believe can deliver later than 1 or 2)

Okay, thanks for clarifying for me. I know every time we get something in by 10 a.m. the driver can't get out the door fast enough.
