So My latest daily driver is an 02 rclb zf6 330k. I spent a week preparing for my trip down to load trail in Paris Texas to pick up my new gooseneck. Fully serviced, 4 new tires, alignment. I thought I had this trip in the bag. Made good time going down there, once we got loaded up
We hit the road and all of a sudden the heat gauge shot up. Thought, well ok I was pushing it kinda hard getting up to 70, I'll back down to 50 and let it cool off. Then my oil pressure was dropping. Got down to like 20 psi so I pulled over and checked radiator, sure enough. I could feel fescue seed matted over between the air to air and the radiator. Found a local shop he let me use his air wand and I blew radiator out and man I thought I had it fixed then, I could feel air pulling across. So we hit the Indian nation turnpike in Oklahoma and headed north. Made it an hour north and it got hot again. I pulled over and had oil slung all down the side of the truck. I thought boy I did it now, pulled oil cap off and was steaming like crazy out. Pulled dipstick and it was half way up the dipstick. Thought well crap, I'll try changing the oil, I found an Oreillys, changed the oil in the parking lot and drained almost 8 gallon out.. So I thought ok that's why oil pressure is down, and crankcase is so full of fluid that the cooling system can't get the heat away. Tried my luck again, boy that fixed it, truck was making 80psi oil pressure and we were running 80mph with 21,000#'s in tow. Running 210* so we made a b line for Missouri. Then I noticed a screeching sound, sounded like the powersteering pump was whining.. I ignored it. Made it to Joplin and it started getting hot again and oil pressure dropping, so we stopped at loves and changed oil again and I checked turbo play just for giggles. Sure enough it was shot. So I thought well we can only try and push on. So we did. Made it another hour and a half, I was getting really tired at this point. I remember I was almost nodding off in a corner and the truck lost power steering. I knew what that meant so we made it to the off ramp and there was a holiday inn. Coasted in and muscled around the parking lot and got shut down and found I had lost an idler pulley.
I was ready to call it a day. Been up for 25 hours by then. Slept till 7 am and the local Oreillys opened and they had a new serpentine belt and pulley. I had brought a travel tool box so I had it fixed in no time. Back on the road. Truck was running good, made it within 20 miles of my destination I was pulling a hill and KABOOM and white fog came across all 4 lanes from my tail pipe, pulled over and just as I was coming to a stop the engine ran away. Stuffed it in 6th and got it shut down. Had a buddy tow me home. and truck sat for a couple weeks till tonight and I finally got it apart to check stuff out... This is what I found.
Turbine was completely missing haha.
Junk pile.
Got some new sac45's from s&s and a super sport 10mm cp3 and drop in ihi I made 630hp with on my pulling truck.
Definitely made some memories on that trip lol.
