I have enough $ for one of my upgrades

Banks is having a sale and I am going to see what I can get a cac for.

Would a stock tuned truck benefit more from a cac or a hot and cold pipe upgrade if I can only afford to do one of them? Truck is daily driver and tows about 5000 mile a year.
thanks

Only the hot side is available for the LBZ/LMM. Seems like there would be other upgrades before a CAC but not saying it wouldn't help, they make a good piece.

To me your not going to really notice a differnce but I like those mods
IIRC KB says to do the hot pipe....I personally would do both.

Its pretty cheap mod especially if they have a sale, I built my own 3" pipes and modded the Y bridge

I should clarify

I am not building a hot rod just looking for lower egt's and all the associated goodness that comes with them.

jd4440,
What mods would those be?
The cold pipe/egr delete is available from a vendor on this site there was a thread a while back.

Simon,
Point taken about making my own hot and cold pipe. It gives me a good excuse to pull the y bridge and polish the crap out of it.

Just a thought but if your looking for some cooler egts ditch the pinched off turbo down pipe. This is a lly piece but I think the lmm is the same or close to it. Cac will help to though.

OK, since you didn't mention the EGR delete I thought you meant a cold side from Banks. I have the same kit coming as we type. I'm not sure what is a knockdown punch to egt's. Sure these things will and the downpipe as stated. You already have a full exhaust so.....

They are pretty much the same....We put a Diomond eye on a LMM and found that the stock was leaking where it flanged to the turbo. The truck had less than 5000 miles.

Dropped EGTS 50*f

The BD is better than the banks technicooler.

Have you used both Interocoolers? What makes the BD better in your opinion.

First of all my thanks to all who voiced an opinion especially

Simon who said, save your money and make your own parts

jd4440 who is going down the same road as I am in some ways

burn down who pointed out the obvious that I was overlooking

I called banks this morning and I guess that their sale is not so special they still want around $1,000.00 for their cac. If I purchase the downpipe and bribe my fabricator to make my hot and cold pipe I should be money ahead and still get some of the desired reduction of egt's.

Simon,
How did you modify your y bridge? If it is a state secret that is cool but could you point me in the right direction. Otherwise I will just polish and call it good.

Big thanks

The BD is a newer better design. If your stuck on Banks, I think they can make you one like the BD designed core for $$$$.

I can get you the name of a guy that can make you a custom intercooler, but at the time I talked to him last, his ends were fabbed ends not nice cast ends like the BD cooler now has.:coolspot:

My lb7 Y bridge is different than the ones on a LMM, They can still be modded but I personally havent done it.

You would have to look at how much room you have and go from there
IIRC there are a few people on this site that have modded LBZ and LMM Y bridges but cant remember who?

As for the pipe I just cut the end off the stock lb7 pipes to make them a complete 3" by removing the swedge down. But I can send you some good links for 3" tubing if you choose that method....The Banks ones are very good and reasonable priced IMO

I/C are costly, so I run stock:D
