I see that you have efi live. It will do a lot of stuff that a tech 2 does. Just curious what you were needing though

I have taken notice that there are many parameters the efi live doesn't have access too. That probably is a good thing :D, but I was just curious to see if there is another angle to deal with my GM product woes!

That price is way out of my league.

Thanks
Lyle

yeah its true efi doesn't have acces to all the parameters. There's just some people that don't realize all that it can do. Not even shure that I do:confused:. It shure is affordable compared to a tech 2 though

Oh, no arguement there, I have alot to learn.
I am having issues with the TCM that are outside of the parameters of EFI live.

I would like to reflash my LBZ tcm OS, which unfortunately EFI won't do for the LBZ... hmf.... just my luck.

If you look long and hard enough, you can find used Tech2's for a decent price. I picked mine up for $1100 (used), a CANDi module (required for 06+ trucks) for $600 from a local dealer and and an old version of TIS2000 off fleabay (If I ever do much more than messing with my truck, I'll purchase the TIS2Web sub).

There is a cheaper version of it out there, not sure what the differences are.

I bought my Tech2 retail, and it was over 4k with all the options, not something I'd buy again.

Escatawpa, Ms.
I have a friend with some problems with his TCM that he can't read with EFILive too. He's looking for a Tech2 also. Let me check with him to see what he found so far and I'll get back with you. :D Dubiously of course.

Kennedy was selling them for a while. I got mine brand new off guy for $2500 about 3 years ago, and he wanted to buy it back almost immediately. Candi mod was about $600. Need to be friendly with a GM tech to get it updated once in a while. I'd think there is another way to update it but not sure how to go about it.

You can buy the SI subscription to update it, but at $1200 a year, a friend at the dealer is a wiser choice for the enthusiast.

I didn't know efi wouldn't reflash stock tcm's for lbz:confused:
EFILive will only allow a Calibration flash on the 6 speed TCM because it takes over an hour to do a full read/write of the TCM, which generally speaking is not going to viable for our customers. The longer the time needed, the higher the risk of issues (ie flat batteries, user accidently disconnecting FlashScan etc)

yeah, EFI has the ability to reflash the OS for the 5 speeds ....I think, all of them
The 5 speed has a much faster read/write process than the 6 speed, so full flashing is quite a simple and risk free process.

EFILive currently supports the 5 and 6 speed TCMs from 2001 through to 2008. The TCM in the 2009 LMM is different to the 07-08 TCM, so it requires the development process to start over. Support will be added in the future.

Cheers
Cindy

Is it the cal file size that makes it slow to read or just the way it reads it?
