Wow looks like you have answers the question at what power level are billet shafts and drums needed.
What dose your truck weigh?

Not necessarily. My stock shafts have been fine.

Awh I see. It really struck my interest when Andrew said he wanted the twisted mess lol. I guess there is always something to be learned from the carnage.

The the twisted factory P2 is still usable to machine out for a billet snout.

When I pulled my trans a few months ago my p2 was twisted worse than that. I had a stage 5 kit put in it back in 2011 and I was only around 550-600hp until January of this year. I only drove it a few hundred miles on the built motor so I know it was messed up before that. From what I've been told is its from burnouts and hard launches, which I did a lot of. lol.

IMHO weight has no effect on twisting splines. Does it on breaking shafts? Who knows since not 2 input shafts are the same strength

no billet parts in mine either probably come back to haunt me now that i said it...

I am just getting ready to put one together so I am happy to hear from guys making more power than I intend to have good luck without billet parts.

Got a fresh unmolested complete 5 speed input drum assembly coming my way. Input shaft, sun gear and all. Will be able to snag my new planet on saturday. Should be able to throw the trans back together middle of next week I'm hoping.
