My truck - 2002 CCSB Duramax

Mods:

BD SuperMax
BD Intercooler
Elec Fans
Stock Injectors
Stock CP3
AirDog
Water/Meth
EFI DSP5
Built Trans
Triple Clutch TQ
Updated T-Case
Locked Diff
Cognito Arms
Cognito Traction Bars

Basically, I think this things at it's max for a stock bottom end...

Do I build a whole new short block and go big injectors/dual pumps/compounds knowing that I'll gain 250-300hp for a $30K investment? Or leave it alone?

Viper wont haul nothin but butts. Viper wont get 20mpg. Viper=attention, yes MAYBE from girls, definitely from cops. It is much more satisfying to beat a viper with a duramax, than it is to beat a diesel truck with a v-10 supercar. JMHO

Like said above if you have the cash and not your daily driver then build it. I'm ready to build mine to the nuts but I have to wait tell I get me a new truck.

upgrade the turbo again if you have the cash and go from there or do twins if you do it all at once your going to get bored eventually again do it in steps.

Im the wrong person to ask or give input. Whole reason i bought a duramax was to mod it. Im tryin to figure a motor build out for mine. If it was me, and like stated above could afford to build a motor and buy the fueling for the build id be goin that route. Im not ordering a new truck again, did it on this one, its paid for and now the mods start cause im keepin it.

You should be able to build a motor with GREAT parts for way less than 30K. If the truck is paid for and you have the $ then go for it man!

Turbo upgrade or twins and a set of headstuds is all I would do till it blows up. Then do a full build.

Build a spare motor with the good stuff, buy your turbos and fuel system install all on the motor stand and install, thats what i did.Alot easier to walk around the motor and work on it instead of doing stuff in the truck and you can use the truck till your ready to install the new motor.JMO

The thing isn't the cash, it's where does it end durability & reliability wise...

My head says leave it alone...

My balls say 'do it up to the nuts'...that and I stare at a spare long block and a pile of parts every day...

This truck has to be driveable and 95% reliable on a daily basis.

I know that compounds turns into injectors, turns into dual CP3s, turns into a giant money pit.......

AAAHHH I just don't know....

Many people build reliable 650-850hp trucks. Its when u pass that limit when durability/reliability starts to drop alittle. It all depends on what u call nuts. Im shooting for 850+ on races tunes but dd on around 675-700. If u have the money, u wont be disappointed. It will pay off when u drive it. Lol

No need to go into the engine. With what you already have, a basic twin or triple turbo setup using your stock turbo and injectors will make it an exciting ride. Lots more fun to drive and still reliable.

Sigh...such a tough call...

I think for now, I'm going to leave it as is and attack the cosmetics & detail work...that mod list isn't even all of it...it's basically got everything I can do to it short of a fully built race motor...seriously..SSBC 3 piston calipers/cross drilleds, steering braces, double din dash conversion with in dash DVD...I dunno...you name it, it's probably got it...

leave it alone

I wouldn't get a viper but you can get a car that you can make way faster for cheaper and not have to depend on it to get you to work
