you will need it, it lifts up the keys so you can remove the torsion bar bolt and plate to relieve the tension in the bars

I've heard of guys doing it with a C-clamp, but it is a little dangerous. If you can get the torsion bars unloaded, it will be really easy.

I have heard of people being seriously injured or killed by torsion bars without properly unloading them.

The tool is 100 bucks, but worth it. It just looks like a pissed of C clamp

If you have a good relationship with your dealer see if you can steal it for the weekend.

Some dealers are nice liek this, mine is.

they have another one thats like a like a u bolt with flat stock with a pin on it, works better imo it wont slip off
