Truck is an 01 chevy. It has an 03 engine in it with whatever was needed to make it work in an 01. The ECM is for an 03 GMC. There is also an ECM for an 02 GMC. The TCM is custom from a shop. There is NO original/stock ECM or TCM tune for any of those applications except maybe the 02 GMC ECM.

What does one do to get the VIN and things all corresponding here? The truck starts and runs alright but anytime you hook, say a Tech II, you have to pick 03-this, 02-that, 01-hither, etc. Would like to get it to where it's all jiving and of the same lineage.

I don't think this is a necessity, just something that would be nicer and not so hilljack.

Any help? For instance, do I just need to take a stock 02 ECM tune with an OS that has all the same stuff as this truck and just change the VIN # on it? Is changing the VIN # as easy as just simply deleting the one in there and typing in the new one?

Thanks

Not used a Tech II but guessing it is seeing an 01 BCM and any other module on there as well.

so changing the VIN is as simple as finding a tune with the correct OS (or OS of choice?) and type in the truck's VIN #? It's not hard coded in or anything?

Same way to get the right VIN in the TCM also? Just manually change it and reflash?
