Is there a way to get the trans out w/o seperating the transfer case and not removing the bar for the torsions?

When I built my trans the only way I could get the trans out was taking the transfer case out first. Im trying to make this as quick as possible and I remember someone telling me you could take them out together.

Unless you drop the torsion bar crossmember and have a really HD jack to hold both units; no.

 i just got done doing this, what i did was, took both the bolts that are in the keys out, then took a C clamp and took the load off of the nut and removed it, then took the clamp off and beat the T-bar out of the key, then i unbolted the cross member and removed it.

The GM Torsion Bar tool REALLY makes life simple for loading and unloading those keys.... trying to use a 3 jaw puller or similar really becomes a pain.

i come from a long line of construction workers and we like to swing big hammers :D .... it only took me about 5-10 min to take them out and about the same to put them back in.

Why would you want to go thru all the trouble of unloading the T-bars? Pulling the T-case is quick and easy.

X5 besides you have to remove the Transfercase at some point..

Im just swapping converters. I seperated the TC last time, the point I was trying to make is would it be faster is all.

So is it faster to seperate or not to seperate to swap converters

Looking at my truck on a lift, I'd say it would take about the same amount of time, only doing the t-case removal would be easyer. But thats just me.

Also if you run into a problem, which problem would you rather try to deal with....tcase and trans or Suspension, good luck....

i always pull the t-case first too. its really easy, and you have done it before so thats a plus. better than trying to beat on those stupid torsions I hate those.
