Mike,
I have a Suncoast Stage V transmission and I do a lot of driving around on logging roads moving very slowly, about 5-10 mph. Ambient temps around 90

I would assume that the cooler isn't getting proper airflow at those speeds.
the engine doesn't get hot enough for the fan to come on to pull in additional air either.

I usually stop when the transmission gets just over 200*to let it cool.

Would your cooler help in this case or should I look at a an electric fan option so it could be turned on to help the lack of airflow issue?

Here are some comparisons between a stock cooler & one of Mike's coolers. I would think it will help but the fan option may work better with your slow speed driving.

I Allison can handle 200* no problem. I've ran mine to 215* before mike installed his cooler

I'd start with a MikeL cooler...

Yes, it looks to be one heck of an upgrade, but I wonder if at that speed I am just circulating hot oil?

I don't have a problem with 200* but in my mind that's the max if i wouldn't stop to cool it would just keep climbing I think, it doesn't take too many miles to get it to 200* and it is a pain to need to stop all the time.

This is sustained hour after hour driving, not like a quater mile and shut' er down

I am going to put together a sticky about temps and coolers later on this evening. I have done a lot of testing over the last 7 years and talked to a lot of engineers. Stay tuned.
