Hey i got my Gmax installed today and i reset the taps and well it shifts like CRAP!! I reset the TAPS via efi live put my truck on a economy tune from rob and drove around the city the shift got nice and smooth. I just did my first 75% run and it shifts so hard on the 3-4 and 4-5 shifts the whole truck jerks and shakes. The temps are constantly 200 degrees. I drove it around the city for 20 mins and then drove back roads doing a stop and go. I would fully stop accelerate 25% throttle all the way threw the gears lightly apply the brake and slow down to 0. I did this probably 20-30 times. It didn't smooth out my 3-4 or 4-5 shifts. I even did it in tow haul. Is something wrong or has it not had enough time? Should i go to the dealership tomorrow and have them reset the TAPS again and do a fast learn on it? What do you think and what would you do?

Not really.... Even with just resetting TAPs, my trans never shifted that harsh. Neither of the two I've built shifted remotely harsh (certainly not enough to shake the truck), even out of the gate without preforming the fastlearn procedure. If the 3-4 and 4-5 are so harsh they make the truck shake and buck really bad (like enough that you're afraid you're going to get whiplash), then I'd say something's probably not right and you're getting tie-ups, but I'm not sure why. PLEASE don't take my word as gospel, since I'm not an expert... I know enough to be dangerous :rofl:.

I had a feeling but i am new to the whole thing. Mike should i make a video of what it is doing and post it so you can see exactly what i am talking about. I honestly don't think i am over reacting like everyone says i am. If you want me to make a video do you want me to make it of the gauges too? This away you can see the crazy rpms on the shifts too?
I would do both if you can, log it and if it's not to much trouble make a video and post it. Good luck, hope you get this figured out!

I have never logged anything from the tcm only from the ecm. I would do it the same way wouldn't I? Select lb7/lly 5 speed and connect? What pid selection do i never to make?
I dont think logging with EFI will tell you much about your issue , i would have to look over the pids and see if any would be of use . I would call the builder and ask what he set the clutch clearances to especially the c2's and c3's and tell him about your issues and see what he suggests after all if there is an issue he will be the one fixing it . Did he not test drive the truck ?
He rode with me... We only babied it though, and everytime it shifted up of down it would smooth out a bit more and we never could get up fast enough during rush hour to get into 5th gear. Mike recommended that their might be a spring that was left out or a trim valve ball that was not put in the right spot. So what should the clutch clearances be, Trent or is it different from one kit to another?
Who did it and how many has he done? Why wasn't he working on this over the weekend to solve the problem?
Just a regular tranny shop a few hours away. They have done 3 allisons with a suncoast kit and he said 20-30 allisons with just factory replacement parts. He wanted to give it time to see if it just needed to learn. Now all the shifts are smooth under 100 percent throttle even on my largest tune EXCEPT the 3-4 shift. It is very harsh some times and it is like butter maybe 1 out of 4 times. I have some logs of the ECM with the rpms and stuff of just a quick run threw the gears but it doesn't show anything but a studder at the 3-4 shift. I also have a video but i can't figure out how to get it onto my computer. I have tried bluetoothing, emailing, and syncing my phone. I will continue to work on it.
What trans OS are you running? I know I had problems with my 3-4 shift where sometimes they would bang every once in awhile, but it only does it with an 01 OS. Of course though the 02 has a completely different issue with it.
