Glad you posted that, I was fixing to order a set.

I'm thinking pull a center leaf for for cushy, leave overload on for when needed and buy a good set of fox shocks. What do you think???

Still debating on a lift, I really hate to loose ground clearance in the center of the truck by lowering it.

leaving the overload will make it ride the same even after pulling the leaf. your main pack will wind up laying more on the overload and probably give a worse ride if anything.

As my sig says cclb drw its a 3500, springs that are a foot thick , if I didnt have the Sulastics ,the rest of my teeth would be jarred out. I have had them for four years, could not drive on back roads without them.

Kinda wondered about that but if I run some air on my bags and keep them up would it help or just make it bouncy as hell?

My bags just get bouncy with any air in them.

But I am considering a deaver pack now instead of stock springs and lift block. I also saw the skyjacker softride springs. Anyone have any insight on those?

Honestly, I've never been in a truck with rear bags and leafs that rode nice with air in them. The linear spring rate in those short bags is so great that when you put air in them, they make the truck ride like hell.

As for leafs, looks for leafs that have a lot of thin leafs designed around the truck weight. Then run bags but keep them damn near empty or make them removeable. Deaver will build you a custom spring pack for 1000 bucks that will make the truck ride like a wet dream when unloaded but it will be designed for one set weight on the ass end of the truck and a certain ride height (kinda like a coil over setup). So if you add and remove 1000lbs all the time in the rear, not really an easy setup. The replacement ones they sell would be better but you won't get the best ride. It's a give and take. If you want your cake and to eat it too, 3 or 4 link with bags and no leafs. Only way to get it but you will have to contend with joints that will wear like ball joints and the issue of "if a line or bag blows"

My truck is done hauling, it will be empty 90% of the time, I'll have to go get fuel from time to time and haul some things once in a great while. I'll look into the Deaver set up, my springs have never had weight on them as the bags held it all but they don't ride as well as I thought they would unloaded.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of the shipping of the deaver springs. I have the progressive ride deavers and I kinda wished I went with the way you mentioned at first. Unloaded, it's still quite stiff but better than the factory with overloads. Mine was 700 but cost me 900 to get it shipped here. One thing for sure, I thought I was going to pop a nut trying to put it in the truck. It's definitely much heavier than the factory springs. I'm thinking about selling mine since the truck is just sitting in the backyard and it's not going anywhere for a while.

Well I just ordered a set of BDS Recoil traction bars,so I guess I am going to be testing them out soon.I dont have enough hp to give them a true test ,but I will be able to report back to you about ride quality and weather they work ok with Sulastics . One of these days I will feel the need to go and see Mark for some upgrades , but till then all I can do is just dream . Limitless got my money this year , maybe Danville next year .
