Sulastic shackles after 30k

While I'm waiting for my new rear leaf springs to come in I decided to look at the sulastic shackles I put in about 30k miles ago....
For the $400 I'm not sure these were even worth it.

Should I junk these and just get stock replacements?

What kind of climate do you live in?

Weather is +30 Celsius in the summer and down to -30 Celisus in the winter. I've never even pulled a trailer since these have been on, just a slip tank with fuel in the box sometimes. I'm guessing the bushing seized to the pin and tore the rubber.

its suppose to be connected since its a rubber bushing. thats just flat worn out. up to you but i wouldnt drop the cash on new ones. the cold weather isnt being nice to it

I agree, if they were decently priced I'd replace them but I can get stock moog ones for 1/5th of what these cost. In the garbage they will go. I sent Sulastic an email but I doubt anything with come of it.

If anyone is wondering if they are worth it.....the harshness felt on your ass paying for these isn't paid back in ride comfort haha.

Sulastic shackles are warrantied for 3 years, free replacement.

I think its been about 5 years since I've put them on, and I can't find an invoice for them. I don't put many miles on the truck anymore like I used to, just drive it on the weekends.

Just found the invoice. Bought them on Oct 24th, 2018. I'll have to see if I can get them replaced.

Anyone ever have issues trying to do a warranty claim a couple days after it expires? I'm hoping Sulastic doesn't have an issue with it just waiting to hear back from them.

Well i had the same issue as you in a shorter period. They didnt even make it one year or was it two I don’t remember. They did warranty them for me and i have new ones on now. But i have my fingers crossed as to if they will last any longer. I think its the winter road salt they did them in but will see.

I wish I would have looked sooner, I bet they've been like this for awhile. I never would have even checked if it weren't for my leafs being sacked.

Sulastic is going to replace them for me! Just have to send them back and a new set will be sent out. Since they stand by their product even days past warranty I can't complain.

That's good to know, I put mine on about 9K miles ago, last winter. Ill have to look at them next spring.

I've seen quite a few post in the past they don't last very long. Most guys ditch them. Nice of them to stand behind their product!

Even if mine failed out of warranty, I'd likely buy another set. They really do help.

Mine lasted only about 15k miles on my LBZ before the center tore out of one, and the other was close behind. I went back to stockers and noticed no difference in ride quality.

I took off my sulastic shackles today and put stockers on. These ones were replaced under warranty and have been on for less than 18 months now.

My truck was dog tracking and I looked sure enough one side failed completely, these even caused my leaf springs which were brand new dorman replacements to bend a little clockwise making it difficult to bolt the stock shackles back in. I've towed nothing, only usually have a 100 gallon slip tank In the rear. I will not be going for replacement under warranty.

Sulastic shackles are junk.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Said screw it and put them on the scrape pile. I think in the south where they dont see the corrosion they might last better. Edit: I see i posted on this thread before so you can see that comment as well.

Pure junk, I can't see these lasting if you were to tow heavy. I'm pissed they cause my leaf springs to bend clockwise, not sure if I should replace the springs again.
