I just turned 23 and have been married a little over a year now. I had just gotten my diesels few months before I proposed. Like everyone else I got the diesel bug hard and I will tell you from experience to put the truck on hold and really help plan the wedding and show her you care about it. Don't just shrug it off, weddings are a huge deal to women and the more you can help and show interest in the planning it will mean the world to her. You have a built trans already, you can have plenty fun with your truck the way it is. After you guys get married and have a great honey moon then do what you want with your truck. I am finally getting my truck to where I want it and my wife is perfectly fine with it now. Almost all of these badass trucks on here were not built over night or even months. Most of these guys trucks have taken years to get to where they are

Man if I lived further south, 90% of my transport would be my motorcycle. Just get something cheaper to drive, can easily find a beater for $1500 that gets good mpg.

It sucks replacing little things that go bad on a high mileage truck, but I don't cringe so bad when I think I could be spending $700+ a month on a new ride to replace mine.

I'd buy a 86' yoder for a DD before a 6.4, that being said, as soon as mines back together, it's down the road and I'm getting something cheap and RELIABLE, nothing reliable about a tuned duramax that gets its ass ran and worked off or any newer diesel for that matter, maybe I have shit luck but I'm over the wonder how much my next tow bill is gonna be, and how muh is this gonna cost to fix.

I fully agree. But then again it's difficult to make a trip to myrtle beach to see my fiancé in an 82 6.2 diesel with no overdrive. Lol

Looking good is a mind set, debt is very real. ive been in your shoes and know how it goes. My suggestion is to put a financial plan together on paying these things off and damn well stick to it if you want to keep the truck. you will need to sit with your fiance and have a talk about these things and where that puts you for the wedding if you want to keep the truck. you can always buy another truck though, even though you gain attachment to this rig due to all the work you have put into her.

sell the dmax and put a little money into the 82 (unless its really that rough lol). lot of trick things guys can do to those old blazers/trucks still.

reger, they dont make a truck for you that is RELIABLE!!! you could break an anvil with a finger flick. you just need a rig with a damn good warranty that gets you a rental car cause you will be using it quite often  :D

I can't echo these words enough, this is what I do for a living, and it may seem not very glamorous or boring but it matters. The sooner you get your foundation set, the sooner you can start having more fun with toys, etc..

PS sorry for the tangent this topic just hits close to home :D

My 2 pennies. Sell all trucks, buy a good half ton/yoda type rig to DD. Once you are out of debt go find a play truck. Maybe a truck with a blown motor, fix it how you want it to be done from the ground up.

Pushing these trucks performance wise with them also being your DD and having a note on them is playing with fire IMO.

Just last year with our first baby on the way our debt was mounting. Nothing big, just a bunch of small stuff. I sold my boat that was paid for even tho I absolutely hated to. I took that money paid off off everything we have but our house. It sucked having no boat (I fish every weekend). But having all that debt paid off felt great. Being 27 with a new born and only a mortgage was something I was proud of and I eventually was able to get a bigger boat and being it's my only note I don't feel selfish for having it.

It's going to suck for a little while but when you have 2 trucks in the garage that our yours and not a bank's you will glad you tuffed it out.

I have to say the 6.2 is by no means highway worthy lol 3.73s and an sm465 and at 60 that poor thing is screaming. I've got my head screwed on decently to be 22. Credit is mid 700s. The duramax I owe around $7000 on and payments are just $233. 3% interest. And the 6.2 I can't get rid of. Was my pops truck I begged him for since I was 3. I just need to tighten down and pay. I was going to get a bike but that same week I ended up with a ring and an apartment. That plus furniture and these last few weeks have been bumpy but I'm managing surprisingly well. As far as weddings. We want a simple wedding and the in laws are insisting they pay so no worries there. Just need a nice honeymoon which my parents may help out on. I have a nice little apartment that she loves already. And she loves both my trucks and supports my addiction as long as it doesn't come between us. I got me a real catch I swear. And as far as a yoder, they're dangerous here. People pull out in front of you like you don't exist. Plus those and half tons, my duramax gets as good of mileage as they do and is 10x the truck.

Thanks guys for all the pointers. It means a lot to me. Big things are to come in my life and it's great when guys I barely even know have my back

Like others have stated. Debt free is the way to go. When you have some extra coin and thinking about some
Upgrades, take that and start paying stuff off. It is a great feeling to live debt free. Interest sucks, cash is king.

And good on you for doing so well at your age. Im 28 and just went through a lot of what you are talking about. Most 22 year olds I know dont have any skill, have no idea where they are going in life, live at home and mooch off parents. You are doing it the right way.

Thanks man. I've always know I wanted to get married and thought about how I need to know I can support myself on my own before I bring someone else into my life. Everyone always told me I was never a kid lol
