oh they are real street racers. they didnt just drop from track racing to do this show :roflmao:. Just because discovery didnt cover it doesnt mean it doesnt happen. there are plenty of vids floating around of them boys doing real street racing.

Gotcha. Maybe I'm just out of the loop most things these days are on social media which I don't have haha. Either way the cars are fast as **** you just don't see many promods running around the streets up north hahaha.

Just curious, which one those cars from Street Outlaws do you think is a promod?

Afaik theres 2: Cheifs CrowMod and Lutz's MadMax and neither will be run next season. Steel cars only. Just because it has a tube frame doesnt mean its a ProMod. :thumb:

I'm surprised AZN has any limbs left after that nitrous chair stunt
Man that was scary as hell. Think what would have happened if one or both of the tie downs would have broke. You could tell he was pretty shook up after it was over. I wonder how they ever talked him into doing that? I wondered if they tested it out first?

I don't like Richard either, he reminds me of a guy who races at our local track, was pretty serious into drugs and folks have a lot of money. They told him they would buy him anything if he would stop the drugs. He bought two go fasts, the one supposedly from some of the guys who build for Street Outlaws, Both are pretty fast but he can't drive worth a crap.

The OKC show is getting a little bit to clean, safe, and well lit for my liken lately.

If there is any magnetism left on the VHS tapes, I could produce a full season or two worth of real street racing action from back in the late 80's thru early 90's. Remember when Fox bodies with NOS and Paxtons ruled the streets?

Every weekend in SW Florida there was plenty live street racing going down at multiple spots. Fifty plus cars showing up to run, law trying to road block us all in. Have hours of great action I need to convert to digital before it's lost forever. Even hosted a website back in early 90's dedicated purely to street racing. Screenshot below is from WBTM captured in 96.

Ah those were the days... :woott:

There's no way in hell anyone in their right mind would jump on that if they watched a "test run". I agree, looked like his life was flashing before his eyes

First, Richard is just a loudmouth showman which can be entertaining but I think Chief looked like a tool when he kept badgering RR. Midwest was fine with Aaron (licensed NHRA driver) driving the car but not another professional driver? What is Chief? That being said, RR should have asked chief to have his wife drive. That way, both sides drivers are unlicensed beginners. I would have loved to have seen Chief's face since fair is fair...

You have to remember it all in the script, and all in all they are all pretty good actors. Especially if you go back and watch the first season when it looked more like the real deal.

You will have to admit it has helped the local drag racing in this country a bunch. My little town has had a drag strip since 1958. The city fathers leased the back taxiway of our old WWII airbase to the local auto club, The Loafers for $1 annually in hopes of moving the racing to the track and off the street. It was a 1/4 mile for about 25 years then was shortened to 1/8 mile after a woman was killed on a motorcycle when she hit the wall. It was a financial decision, track and insurance costs.

The track has puttered along all those years just making it. Since the street outlaw show and now we've added the 541 Street Out top 10 series to the Friday night Street legal races, the crowds have really started to get interested again, and we actually made enough money this past year to radically up grade our old timing system.

We can't seem to keep them interested in the regular Sat and Sun races but they sure show up for the Friday night racing, with exception of the outlaw cars is all daily drivers and boring as hell to watch unless you or a friend of yours is racing.

love both shows! However gas monkey wont be the same without Aaron he was the brains of that shop. Im hoping he gets his own show tho. I also mainly watch street outlaws for Asian and Farmtruck they make the show worth watching.

As for the "street racing" I've been out with my boyfriend here in MN and the show isn't real street racing. Real street racing doesn't involve lights with generators set up haha

Incorrect, they have no issue hitting the streets. Jackie had the Sonoma out on the street last Fri night testing after we fixed a fuel issue before our event.., and know plenty of others that aren't posted about to general public. Just because it's not on tv, doesn't mean it doesn't happen ;)

I watch both shows, and I enjoy both shows. I am interested to see what happens with Fast N Loud without Aaron, but I think they will be just fine. There are a lot of talented guys there, and I'm sure if they want to find another "Master Mechanic" to replace Aaron, I'm sure there will be plenty of guys chomping at the bit for a chance to get on TV. I'm really interested to see if Aaron gets his own show. I hope so because it sounds like he is interested, and the show he has in mind sounds like something that will be fun to watch and more in depth than FNL.

I also really like the Street Outlaws guys. I know it isn't realistic street racing, but they really can't show legitimate illegal street racing on TV. Do you guys really thing the law enforcement or the film production insurance companies would allow that? Lets be reasonable here. There is no doubt those guys are 100% street racers, and they never claimed their cars to be street cars. They claim them to be the fastest street RACED cars, and like Ken said, I think it is cool what they are doing for drag racing. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the new season of the show. It sounds like they're going back to what the list was like at the beginning of the show where the cars at least looked like cars.

If Richard had any interest in following the rules, he had plenty of time to get an NHRA license, not that he needed it for this race anyway. He just wanted to do whatever he could to win, and in the end it didn't work out for him. If I had an agreement with a shop that they would build a car that they raced against my shop building a car that we raced, and I find out that they brought in a professional NHRA race team and driver to build and drive the car, I would be a little upset about it too. Makes the whole thing seem a little pointless to me. This wasn't a "licsensed NHRA driver" against another. This was a professional NHRA race car driver against a guy who races regularly.

If you guys are really interested in the show and what really happened, you should really listen to Chief and Shawn's podcast. It is on iTunes and on their website. They literally had 8 days to build their car vs the Gas Monkey guys who had months. I mean, the Gas Monkey guys had time to build the car, test the car, wreck the car, fix the car, and wrap the car before the race. That should tell you who had more time in the whole deal.

The car was already built and a proven chassis.., they threw the old parts, door and a new front clip on it to make it look like the old crow body. They didn't have to do much.. when we raced the Armageddon event in OKC last season, Promods won the event under "street car" rules. People weren't happy, and the no promod rule started being enforced.
Are you going to be in Tulsa this weekend?

I used to like Ass Monkey, but I've slowly learned that RR is the type of guy that only bumps his gums because he has money now. The show made him and Aaron was the talent behind it all.

I like 405 because it's real. Yes, it's scrptied, but the racing is real. The show has done a great deal for racing.

It's always the little guy (less money than those in corporate sponsors) that keeps things real.

Going to be heading to Tulsa this weekend for Radial v. World. Should be fun.

No, we just had an event this last weekend with the Sonoma as an attraction. He will be in Redding this weekend and Kentucky the following. We won't be back east with the cars until around Aug that I know of. I'm signed up for Armageddon big tire open class. Boddie is in big tire, and Boddie Jr will be in small tire.

The show street outlaws has turned people around here into dumb asses. Im considered the black sheep cause I only race at the track. The whole no prep events have helped track attendence but yet many guys who race them refuse to follow safety rules. Track dont enforce them cause it dont show the times. They wont let us run the street tire class even though we drove to the track. Seems like drag racings going down hill like many things.

Jeff lutz in madman is about as street car as it can get and stay as fast as it is. It's registered and inspection in PA. For drag week he street drove it 1100 miles and hit 5 tracks in 5 days driving through Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. With a small trailer in tow... that's street car enough for me.
