Hello ladies and gents. I have one ignorant question that sounds really stupid but here it goes. Would takeing out the muffler and cat out of my 02 duramax harm my motor in any way? And what are the benifits of cons of it?

I bought my lly with a muffler and cat delete. Sounds like a dang propane heater.

I ran my LLY for a year or so with stock exhaust straight piped and it sounded like a pissed off hair drier at WOT. It did wake it up and I didn't noticed fuel mileage but I always had it at the floor board.

So I take it a 4" or 5" will make the tone noticeably deeper?

It helps for sure in the cruising and lower RPM, but changing the downpipe gets rid of all the screeching at higher RPM's.

Edit: I've ran a 4" exhaust with a stock down pipe and it was deeper down low, but sounded no different at WOT other than the turbo screech form the restricted down pipe was wayy louder.
