How would my stock tranny hold up with a dyno run on my "500hp" tune? The only thing I have done to the tranny is a TransGo Shiftkit. Thinkin about maybe dynoing my truck this weekend.

You will experience pretty strong drive train loss due to the stock transmission expect on a 500hp tune actual to be 425-460hp... I would write a TCM tune that will disable 5th gear so you can keep the trans is 4th gear which is your 1:1 gear.

It should hol mine has been on the rollers and it did ok. Trans temp got a bit warm but not bad. I am runnin a McRat Wendy tune and I only made 437 HP but made 1051 ft lbs of tq.

You being a 5 spd truck I would do what paint said above and make a trans tune to lock out 5th gear.

Do actually have a lower number due to the tranny not being built? Would I actually be closer to 500hp if i had a tranny?

yes but other things play a part in the 500hp as well like holding 22-23k of rail pressure on your big tune. Also, if you drive it when you do dyno, your gunna have to play with turbo boost and gettin the lowest rpm to start rollin into the throttle. Hammering down and having the truck down shift to third, then shift back to fourth creates a spike makin it look like you made more power than you actually did.

For mine, i had to hold the brake in 4th, start droppin the rpms to 2k and start power brakin so to speak to get boost up, then roll into it kinda fast so it would stay in 4th and give me the besst numbers. now, granted this was only on the only dyno ive ever used and the rollers were pretty light IMOP so i could be very much different somewhere else.

I made 517 horse power and 885 torque on my stock trans but the hot tune had never been on the truck until I dyno'd it but also it was a 6 speed trans with 38000 miles on it so it was still pretty fresh good luck if you have never limped your trans before you should be fine when you drive to were ever you are going to dyno park your truck a hour or so before you dyno it let everything cool off the best you can

I've limped the tranny ONE TIME before a long time ago, thats when I had the shiftkit installed. The guy took the whole tranny apart and put it back together, as far as I know he installed the shiftkit and made the tranny "fresh". I dont think ill dyno just because of the risk. I'm just going to have to get a tranny one of these days....

I dynoed 441whp/831wtq with a "500hp" tune, exhaust and intake.

I forgot to say that was when I was on 37x13.50R18 Mud Grapplers.

386hp and 793 torq. tow tune Dyna Jet Research-5400 elevation set and taken Advanced Trans. and Clutch Ft. Collins, Co. yesterday. Love it for daily tune no smoke, boost goes to 30 easy egts, under any PPE prior used. No regrets for sure. 2 pulls and its' finished might not be super tech like but it's not too far off. Lots of hot cars tuned here and it sure runs good. 3k rpm is flat top on graph both values. Is this most likely close?
