I did some backyard testing today before switching intakes. Today it was around 85 and i scanned everything with my PPE. Before changing intakes i took the truck for a ride and got it nice and hot. Cruising my intake temps were roughly 110 degress and sitting and idleing temps were up to 140 degrees. Motor temp was 194. This is with the stock swiss cheese airbox. I went home let it cool and switched to the S&B intake. Again i took it out and got it nice and hot. Cruising my intake temps were down to 85 which was the outside temp. Sitting and idleing temps never broke 100. Besides picking up more turbo whistle the intake cleaned up alot of my off the line smoke. before if i stomped it from a stand still it would roll the coal. Now doing the same thing it cut it in half. SOTP feeling it seems like it picked up a few but hard to tell. I will know when i got back to the track soon. I thought id let you know my experience. S&B kit is nice kit and fits great. I had it in in less then 1/2 hour. I also bought it from Alligator performance :D

Did you buy a new 1618C Delco element for the stocker for the comparison.

If not, you wasted your time comparing apple and cherries.

It wasnt brand new but it had less then a 1000 miles on it. I bought the filter about 2 months ago when i did an oil change. I dont drive it that much ive put 2,000 miles on it since december...

I don't mean to beat a dead horse. Was it a delco 1618C?

There is a really big disparity between this element, and other delco elements, and the aftermarket crap, like purolator, etc.

K well maybe not here as much, but on DP this was like a weekly occurance. Anytime someone mentioned an intake they would get flamed and say they are wasting their money and they do not produce gains, hurt gains or whatever.

This is not a dead horse, and I am not condemning alternative intakes...just asking what type of element was compared against the alternative.

I've counted "oem" elements, delco or otherwise, I have found 6 total, and none of them have the low pressure drop numbers of the 1618C.

So it's a fair question. I realize not everyone understood my meaning.

Then dont - this has been covered PLENTY of times and people just need to agree to disagree.

What's wrong with asking a question Matt? I think Killerbee was just trying to see what the gains were with what kind of filter was being used. Maybe the Filter Killer Bee was talking about is an updated one or something, I know there are two different filters for our LMM's with one being better than the other for flow. If you were curious as to some facts stated wouldn't you want to know the scenarios about what was done and used?

So you've been banned from dp a couple of times already, maybe you miss all the flaming but the only one I see doing it is you? imo:rolleyes:
