I have wondered how long a stock 6 speed might last with a t go jr. and twins if you designed the tune to rev out high and only really fuel it hard up top. (Try and keep the torque down some). I'm sure the TC would still fail and probably the rest if you make any real power...

Like some have said, you can't really put the twins to use without a built trans.

Twins before trans = scorched C3's and C4's. I had a Transgo jr. installed and it never limped but this is what it looked like when I opened it up a month later. The C1's, C2's and C5's looked like new. This was on Rob's street tune only. 1st and 2nd pic are C3's and the third is C4.

What HP would that of been?

Pretty sure that's what mine are going to look like when my trans comes apart. 80000 miles on it driven hard and I've only limped a handful of times. I'll be surprised actually if some of the plates aren't welded together.

i would do the trans. but thats just my opinion. I got about 180rwhp tune put in my truck and i also got the trans. go jr. and the tranny tuned. When i roll on it really hard i get a nasty shudder in 5th gear. And thats just a tune!!

I would build the trans first. Once you have that done and some good tuning, you will have lots of fun with that first then you can start thinking about twins. Or just say screw it and do them both at the sme time.:D

Jetty, dont be an idiot. Save up your money and build the trans before doing twins. The trans is the first performance door you have to go through with a Dmax.

BTW, for all of you wondering what Paint was talking about, here's the whole song from 2004, courtesy of GotJuice and DmaxalliTech:

Chorus
I limped it, I limped it..... Zinged it 'racing 'round
I limped it, I limped it..... no more power to the ground
I limped it, I limped it..... smile turned in to frown
I limped it, I limped it..... got passed by 'ricer brown'

1st verse
Just pushed it over the top
Didnt know when to stop
Thought I could push it just a bit more
Guess its time to step up to the door....

~Chorus~~

2nd verse
I just placed a call to the 'coast
Told them my tranny was toast
Then I called the place in the hills
They said to stop by and we'll send you a bill.

~Chorus~

3rd verse
Now I sit here wonderin what to do
My wife is pissed at me too
I shoulda built it first
Now it'll cost me worse

-------------------------------------------------------------

Another version from GMC-2002-Dmax:

I limped it, I limped it
What fun I was having tonight
I limped it, I limped it
Something just don't feel right

I limped it, I limped it
Why wasn't I listening
I limped it, I limped it
I checked the fluid and it stopped glistening

I limped it, I limped it
Now I am stuck in third
I limped it, I limped it
I just got beat by a FURD

I limped it, I limped it
I need at least 3 $$$$ grand
I limped it, I limped it
My tranny's on the rebuild stand

I limped it, I limped it
Now my bank account is drained
I limped it, I limped it
I caused my tranny some pain

I fixed it, I fixed
Now I can hold 5th gear
I fixed it, I fixed
I Better check my underwear

LOL Tom :spit:
I never saw the song before :spit:. I know I had you guys stepping back from the dyno at Smokin In The Smokies when I only had the 1057 and transgo Jr in mine and throwing the bottle to it hehe. I dont know how that poor thing lived as long as it did with the abuse I put to it.

Henry, that was just one of those hilarious things that used to happen at the Place way back when. Great bunch of guys back then.

As for your truck....I remember those dyno runs. Wasnt that also the year you did the "Burnouts from Hell" at the track??? At least you had a 1057 and T-go....jetty's talking about doing all this on a stock trans. Hell, it probably wouldnt last backing out of the driveway.

LOL burn out from Hell was the next year with the built trans that I ended up cooking some parts from letting her go into 6th gear:eek: thought George was going to kill me over that one. After the trans was fixed I cracked the piston and did the build.

I ran twins, trans go Jr. and it took me no time to smoke the torque converter... To be fair I could limp the tranny on a stock tune before the trans go Jr. (32K miles is when I picked the truck up and first limped it). You can do twins, and limit the tune, and don't get stupid in 5th or 6th or the torque converter will start slipping.

i ran twins on stock trans for about a month...

a built tranny/stock turbo truck would KILL a twinned/stock tranny truck.. and would last twice as long:thumb:

but your prolly like me, have to learn for yourself

Yep a few guys with a built transmissions and stock turbos had been pulling away from me... Hard to accelerate as much when the torque converter won't transmit the power....
