Sorry for delay of response guys, just got back from vacation, appreciate the help!!

Yes, i have logged the truck and i hold great rail psi, this was back in nov. , had Dustin ride with me and log. Fuel psi was great, so im assuming my lift pump s are fine.

I will log it again , since i havent done so since installing the ppe race valve and Dustin lowered my commanded psi to see if it would help.

I just towed a 28' enclosed trailer to Charlotte NC for the auto fair car show,

Popped the damn 0087 with just my tow tune a few times, glad i had my V2 plugged in.

Have you tried any other tunin. I have a friends truck that was doing the same thing. We finally just put different tunin in the truck and the next weekend at the track he ran a tenth and a half quicker with no low rail pressure code. Just tryin to help.

Well i never had an 0087 issue with the PPE Hot + 2 ET. But it didnt feel near as strong as my current tuning.

But i also shimmed my FPRV after i got my EFI live tuning because i THOUGHT i needed to, I wish i would have left it alone, nothing but problems ever since.

Did you put vaseline or anything on the bottom/sealing surface of the rail plug or the original valve when you shimmed it? If not, you may have scored the sealing surface in the rail up which could be causing a leak that the CP3 can't keep up to when larger PW are being asked for.

I am suspecting this also Dale , if we could see a log Tim it would help a bunch , until then we are just guessing or making assumptions on several different things .

As Jeff stated before, that fuel valve has to be extremely tight. I kept popping p0087 for about a year before i fixed the problem and i also had the race valve on my LBZ. I had to put a wrench on the valve and with as much swing as i could get between the wrench and hood, i had to hit the wrench with a hammer to get it tight enough!

I will try to post a log, still a newbie in this area so i will try!

What kind of rail pressure can you hold on the big tune?
Actually Dustin came up and logged it for me when he was home around last thanksgiving, It was holding up to 29,000 IIRC ,

It was popping the 0087 when i would let off the throttle sometimes, it was weird.

Man i bent a piece of pipe to make an offset cheater bar to tighten it, its TIGHT!

But no, i did not use vaseline when i reassembled it. So you guys think i need a new O ring? or maybe damaged the rail ?

I stuck my pinky in the rail *( LOL) and the seating surface felt fine as did the threads.

THANKYOU ALL Very much for the help.

Does anyone make a fitting i can screw in the bleed port to check fuel pressure with my standard fuel test gauge?

how many miles do you have on your truck Tim? Mine has been getting worse with low fuel rail pressure and looking at the logs is leading me to believe I have a bad CP3.

Staging the truck my disired FRP gets up to 26,000 psi and the actual drains to 20,000 then when I start going down the track it varies between 18k-20k on a 26k desired.

I've got 95,000 hard miles on my CP3 though, so I'm not surprised.

Theres no way you were holding 29,000. That was probably the desired. I can get about 24,000 on my small tune and average about 21,000 on the big tune

We screwed up a fuel rail really 2 of them the factory one and the new Gm one I bought for 350 some bucks then friend used my old race valve from the already screwed up 1st rail and messed up the new one got luck bought driver and pass side with lines on line and got a new race valve installed that and never anymore trouble.

Also think you might od saw the wrong psi I run twin cp3 and hold 29,000 a single is not going to do that :spit::hug:

Yeah guys, im sure i looked at the wrong number LOL.

Chris: My truck has 50,000 miles on it, just turned.

Is there a test the dealer can do to check if the CP3 is going bad?

Maybe i might have to try a new fuel rail.

i got a code on mine when i hit 117 mph on the freeway the other-day, i didn't have my tuner in the truck to read the code but it cleared after 3 restarts, do you think it was fuel pressure or will that code not clear by itself???

I think the only test a dealer will do is bring the rail pressure up in park, and see how closely the actual and commanded stay. But that really doesn't show anything, that will just show a cp3 that is horrible, not one that is a little weak.
