stering wheel controls

i would like to put a double din head unit in that can hook to my ipod. i was told that i will lose my volume controls on the stering wheel if i do. what should i do?

They make adapters for it. Just make sure the deck is able to accept the controls

you probly all ready did the double din but what model do you have pioneer makes a adapter for that so do the other companys like keenwood n such but its not hard

they make one that the controlls will work for any radio with a IR remote. its a pain to setup, and you have to place a IR light where it will hit the radio. but it works very well

If you just want to be able to hook your iPod up to your radio, you can do that without changing your radio. I have an interface I bought at Best Buy. It controls my iPod through the radio, displays song titles, gives me an external audio input, and is HD radio ready.

If you get a DD unit with a wired remote option you can use the PAC SWI for your radio and plug it into the remote interface. I did that since there is no good way to aim the IR in the '08.

I tried the PAL for the Delco unit. I didn't like it. I bought a new head unit with iPod controls for the same price as the PAL.

You could check out crutchfield.com they have everything for car stereo's cheap.

what does one have to do to ADD a steering wheel with controls to a truck not so equipped? The truck wanting to do this has an in-dash nav. stero. I can't remember right off which brand much less a model. But can get that info easy enough.

Is it a major PITA to convert to a wheel with controls or is there a slim chance of the wiring already in place just not hooked up?

I'd be willing to bet that it has a different steering wheel as well as steering column to house all of that fancy wiring. But I have never looked at one without the steering wheel controls before.

Different wheel and SWC harness. Not that easy to come-by, but can be done. It would much easier and cheaper to get a new head unit with a wired remote.

Sorry, I missed this until just now. I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I think it was somewhere around $100 for the kit. The harness Ts into the satellite radio harness. It has a harness that plugs into the iPod (the big wide one that all iPods and iPhones have). It also has a harness with RCA and 1/8" headphone inputs. The interface is also compatible with an HD tuner that is available from the company.
