Input shaft seal on my steering gear box is pouring when it's cold. Are these things serviceable with new seals or do I need a new box? Whose done one and give insight on this? Anybody have a good one laying around from a truck they parted out?

Bump for ya, which steering gear is it.? GM made some changes in 2007+ NBS and I do know the 2500HD gassers went to a 670 or 680 gear box(owned one prior to my Dmax) just not sure about the Dmax NBS.
Just a suggestion, if possible DO NOT give your core up if you purchase a rebuilt gear till you're absolutely sure the rebuilt is good....
Gm reman box's are junk! Mine has about 3" of play before the wheels actually start to turn and still leaks like a bitch. Rebuild the one you have or find an oem junkyard replacment.
Ive started to rebuild them with new bearings and seals. I can get new hard parts too if needed but it starts to get pretty expensive quickly then. For example, a sector shaft is $105.
I scoured craigslist a couple years ago and found one from a 100,000 mile 2500HD ($50.00) to send to Benchworksteering.com here in town when/if mine starts leaking. I had him rebuild the one on my 1982 8 years ago, he invited me to look around his modest 1500 sq. ft. shop, clean, neat and everything in it's place. He also has the ability and parts to rebuild my Hein-Werner floor jacks....:thumb:

They are junk. Nobody can rebuild a box even close to how they were new. The best and only option I would go is a low mile factory original junkyard box.
They are better, rebuilt to closer specs than stock and some bushings replaced with needle bearings. I just installed one on a dodge and it steers like a brand new truck!
I've had my redhead gear box for 6 months now. It's already been through some abuse from 4wheeling and constant hard corners everyday. So far they are holding up pretty well, better than any gearbox I've replaced which is my 3rd set in 60k miles. They are definitely an improvement, steering is tight as it should be. 37's kill gearbox fast and mine is holding up. Although it's time for me to upgrade the power steering pump
I helped Pep put one in his 01, and that thing drove like brand new. Even with all the miles on his truck, the redhead box made it drive like a new truck. I plan on putting one in my BURB here REAL soon.
Might take a look at AGR boxes. They have new boxes they make and list one for our trucks...

I've got 60K miles and 5 years on one of theres, and it's GARBAGE! The rebuilder said they won't even accept it for a core. I will NEVER buy another of there POS boxes.
