Starter Solenoid Spinning

I just replaced the starter Solenoid and went to hook the battery and the solenoid started spinning as soon as I hooked the battery up?

2001 Duramax

sounds like you put the main power wire on the stud that powers the bendix, not on the empty one

I thought about that the problem with that is that the internals on the solenoid would be backwards from the origional but i will give it a try

take a pic of the connections as they are now and post it up. may just be a bad solenoid but i dont see that much.

Lol pull the little purple wire off and reconnect the battery and see if the starter still cranks. If it does, the new starter solenoid is bad

it happens. you may just double check that your power wire isnt touching the other big wire directly across from it but from the pics, it dont look like it is.
