Starter problems

Zf guys how far is your ring gear pressed on the flywheel. Since my dual disc install I've had starter problems. Almost like the bendix gear isn't coming out. So I bought a new starter and put it on and all it does is knock the bendix out and it has got me completly confused. So in closing I don't know what the problem is. Whether it's my ring gear or new starter. The old one would engage and turn it over most of the time. But sometimes it would engage and start to turn the truck over and then stop like it was weak. Or it would just turn with out doing anything.

Ok now it's working. I don't get it, I hooked everything up the same way I had it before. I would still like to know about the ring gear though.

maybe alignment of the starter its self? dirt or grit just enuff to throw it off

The starter is working now but it still grinds every once in awhile.
