All this sounds about right, I removed all the excess crap from Paul Megrath's harness.... I can access all the wiring diagrams also, if you have any roadblocks feel free to give me a call. I now have some time on my hands and will be taking a couple weeks off, we lost oil pressure after our last hook on Saturday and I am not going to tear it down for a couple weeks.....

I am not sure, but I think the gear for the oil pump might have came loose.... I do not know if others have had a similar problem ever.?.?

I will give you a call if i run into any road blocks Matt. You running a stock oil pump??

well got the truck running for about 30 sec last night, it idled smooth and everything seemed to be normal for having injectors 3x bigger than i had last year, lol. i didnt have any coolant in it last night so i just wanted to go through all the electronics and make sure i was able to talk to the ecm. so far the only problem is my autometer tach reads twice the rpm it should, so i'll have to switch it from 4cyl 1 pulse to 4cyl 2pulse and i think that should fix it.

i hope to get some coolant in it tonight and run it up to temp.

While I don't necessarily consider it rape when you pay somebody to do work for you, there is a need for a cost effective competition engine control system. More than just cleaning up wires though.

A common rail without emissions control is really a simple thing to control. You've got 8 injectors and a CP3 to control. You need to read pedal position, crank position, fuel pressure, and manifold pressure. That's it. A first generation cellphone has more than enough computing power to do the job.

Most the wiring is already done for you, the "bale" style Dmax system is perfect, you just have to plug your engine control into it, and pick up the power, ground, and pedal.

This is the future of common rail hotrodding, as the OEM's are making things more difficult to bypass in the ECM each year. You go to the track, flip a switch to access the competition control (think Edge box), and you're off. The ECM no longer has any control over the engine at all. Heck, you could still use the ECM to datalog since it's still plugged in. Or you could just remove it entirely for a trailer truck.

i have an update from my other post, if you're running an autometer tach (i have a phantom 1) then you need to run it as a 4cyl 2 pulse. i had mine hooked up as a 1 pulse to begin with and it was reading double the actual rpm. i thought about leaving it to mess with the dodge guys:D

I Got mine running the other night still need to clean up the wiring a bit but all seems to work well. The only thing i have not working yet is my elec water temp for some reason there is nothing that shows anything coming out of the cluster plug in for the temp gauge. My tach did not have a pulse switch but seems to work. That's for all the help on this Jake & Matt.

So are we going to see it make a pass this weekend Jim? Good to hear you have it running.
I was trying to make Belvidere Thur night but that will be close to impossible. Maybe Hillsboro on Sat. and or Norwalk on sun with Guys club but i am not expecting anything great out of it at first.
