Sorry guy's, I have another question. I just ordered my cognito braces and i'm conserned about my stabilizer shock. I'm guessing it would be a good idea to change this also? If so does Rancho or anyone make an aftermarket one? Or is the dealer shock suficiant enough?

Joey, have you replaced anyting on your front end yet?

I just did the braces on my truck yesterday, with new pitman and idler arms. All i can say is what a pain in the ass. It took me almost 3hrs to finish the job. My pitman arm would not come off to save my life, i ended up having to unbolt the PS pump and push it up to be able to get a puller on the arm. It was still a pain in the ass

The finished product is awsome though, my steering is soo tight and drives better than new

Good Luck

I haven't replaced anything Travis. The only thing I have are sleeves, and my launches have went to shit. So I ordered the braces. Is the pitman and idler arms something that needs done? Is there a way to see if there worn out?

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like a pain in the ass for sure.

Joey, if you jack one front wheel off the gorund at a time and grab the tire sides to side like opposite of checking a wheel bearing. when you move the tire there should be no play at all. If there is your pitman and idler arms are shot. If your front end is anything like mine they will be. I only have 50k on my truck with about two dozen times to the strip and numerous pulls. It was alarming how much play i had in the front end. After new arms and braces my truck tracks straight and drives better than new.

Joey Cognito also recommends new pitman and idler arms on the truck when installing braces if you have alot of milage on them like over 25-30k

Hope that helps

Boy... 94k and no changes! Haha.

If you are looking for a new HD arm, the Cognito tubular UCAs with bolt in Moog joints are pretty nice - had them on my last 2 trucks.

Youll probably be in for new pitman/idler (Stick with OEM ), braces, tie rod ends, a nice greasing of the front end, and possibly wheel bearings if youve been running larger than OE tires.

X2 on the Cognito's. Simon has them and it is nice to be able to just change out the ball joint instead of the whold damn thing. Cheaper too IIRC.

Great info guy's thanks..Just left the dealer, While i was there i had the front end mechanic check the arms, he said they seemed to be in
pretty good shape:confused: He actually laid under the truck and had me move the steering wheel and said there was no play at all between the arms and center link. Do we think it would be ok just to put the braces on for now? My monthly truck fund is running a little low:D
